Does the same article appear in the French Awake! ??? How will the French JWs react ? Or the French version of the Awake! = "Reveillez-Vous!" is different ?

Over the years, various governments have tried to destroy various religions (see Hitler and the Jews). JWs have faced their share of opposition. But, enlightened Western nations have entrenched freedom of religion so deeply, that even crackpots like the JWs are safer than they have ever been in history. Even simple limitations on door to door activities have failed.
But, their Achilles heal is money. Governments can cripple religions by simply forcing them to pay tax, just like everybody else. And they won't have a leg to stand on, because Jesus himself said to pay your taxes.
France has come up with a brilliant strategy to curtail JWs. It could work. And if it does, every underdeveloped country in the world that needs money (aka all of them) could jump on this bandwagon, especially in areas where Western religions are poorly thought of anyway.
Vive la France!

Somebody ought to tell the British Houses of Parliament. Perhaps we can then tax the hide off them too!

I agree - I hope all religions and governments take a good, hard look at the money they could bring into their sagging economies from religious taxation. If it really could be used to help people (instead of politicians and corporations) - it could be a real boon to those countries.
