JW Elder Spy Stories

After my brother-in-law left Bethel, he got a "worldly" girlfriend. The local JWs wanted to know if he was living with her or not. So they got the city overseer to spy on him. My brother-in-law said that one morning he went outside his front door and saw the city overseer sitting in his car spying on him. When the city overseer realized he had been seen, he started his car and left very quickly. In his haste, he hit the car of my brother-in-law's neighbor and continued going.

My brother-in-law took down the license plate of the city overseer's car and went to his neighbor's house and gave it to him so he would know who the guy was that left that big dent in his car. After that, my brother-in-law said that he never saw the city overseer watching his home again.

A funny one. But at the moment I can't remember any stories.

I can remember being told about a brother whose JW wife left him. But he had no proof scripturally for a scriptural divorce. So he and another brother took a video cam to her house and filmed her with her boyfriend in bed through the bedroom window....!!!

I can remember a new elder being told by the older elder that he should be sure to check out the videos and CDs for R-rated material and pornography when making "shepherding" calls.

Elders drove by repeatedly to catch a certain sister smoking. They were "successful."

I guess I can understand that first one you mentioned, blondie... I mean, assuming his motive was just to get a divorce, not to get his wife in trouble. (Although the latter would inevitably follow, I suppose.)

The other two are just sick.

Actually, I felt the first one was bad too, by that time they were legally divorced and the house was hers. They were trespassing and were lucky they didn't get caught by the police. Where is the "trusting in Jehovah." I wonder what would have been done if it had been the sister taking a video of her ex-husband to get the goods on him. I wonder if the elder body would have even considered the evidence? I know a sister who hired a PI to follow her husband and he took pictures but the elders would not allow them.

It's a sad, sad world, Euph. The creepy elders seem to outnumber or outinfluence the good ones and it is still a man's world in the BORG.

Yes, elders routinely spy. They have unbelievable time to do this. They do it in packs, like wolves. They monitor all Witnesses activities. They circle in their cars to see where JWs are. They tap into your telephones, too. They go to the SPYStore to bug your workplace. Spys---That's what they are, I tellya.

Are you serious? I always wondered why more Witnesses didn't resort to PIs in situations like that.

Of course, there's always the "stayed overnight" rule. I know of plenty of Witness women who spent the night with a friend sitting outside their ex-husband's home, so they could testify that he spent the whole night with a woman. I don't consider them aggressors or spies... I consider them victims of the Watchtower's ridiculous rules.

Minimus, you are funny. Elders would never waste their money on bugging devices, unless they paid for it out of the congregation funds.

My brother was policed by the JW elders for some time. He had quit going to the meetings and they had heard that he moved in with his girlfriend (in which, he did). They lived in a secured apartment building and my brother was working 2nd shift. They would go to his apartment during the day and continually ring the door bell to no avail, and thn they would proceed to the closest pay phone and call them. After repeated attempts and no response, they eventually sent him a certified letter saying he was going to be disfellowshipped. He didn't respond and was disfellowshipped.

One of my good friends started dating a "worldly guy" who she convinced to start studying. But, after doing his own studying on the internet he convinced her to leave the JWs. She tried to fade away, but the elders would show up on her doorstep trying to find any excuse to disfellowship her. They eventually disfellowshipped her without her knowledge. She found out months later from her JW sister. When her JW sister (whose husband is an elder) questioned the elders at her congregation, they told her that her sister had written them a letter disassociating herself and that she had sent apostate material to others in the congregation. Neither of these were true, and the story goes that the elders involved were deleted for their actions, but she was never reinstated.

Another friend had the elders pass her in their car and they did a quick turnaround and cornered her at the supermarket parking lot. They demanded that she meet with them or be disfellowshipped. She met with them and was disfellowshipped anyway.

My next thread will be PUBLISHER SPY STORIES. These are the stories Jah Christians LOVE to promote. Some of the most bumbling Clouseaus that I know of are elders. I know 100's of them and none of them would make good spies. Some publishers on the other hand.....
