Mass shooting at a Kingdom Hall in Hamburg, Germany this evening. At least 6 or 7 killed, dozens injured. Single shooter on the run, police doesn't rule out more shooters. Story still developing.

Up to 30 people shot at church in Hamburg, Germany
"A gunman has opened fire at a church in the German city of Hamburg, killing at least 7 people and injuring nearly two dozen others, according to local media. Nearby residents have been urged to stay inside.
The shooting happened at about 9 p.m. on Thursday when at least one person opened fire at a church – a Kingdom Hall – belonging to Jehovah’s Witnesses.
“In the danger area, stay where you are and do not go outside for the time being,” the government said in an emergency alert sent to nearby residents.
German news website Focus said at least six people were killed and 24 injured, including seven people with serious injuries. Minutes later, the Bild newspaper said the death toll had risen to seven.
Police have yet to confirm the exact number of casualties."

Possibly somebody personally affected by the religion’s policies has gone off the deep end(?) Not making any excuses for anybody’s behavior, but if that’s the case, as BETH SARIM said: it’s coming home to roost. Policies like shunning, etc. would definitely have repercussions.
Very sad and yet another reason for JWs to stay home on Zoom rather than risk going to a meeting and have something like this happen!
This could also be a terrorist attack in the classic sense, targeting a Christian church. To me that's the most plausible scenario, but the possibility of a disgruntled person linked with the congregation is also not to be discarded.
It's too early to say whether this is anything to do with ongoing issues with WT policies, and frankly I think it's a bit tasteless to draw that link until and unless there is evidence. Even then, that doesn't excuse this kind of outrage.
The reality is that unarmed and generally innocent people are being targeted for violent attacks much more these days in various parts of the western world for all kinds of reasons, and any mass attack like this, whether it's on a school, office or religious building should be condemned without any excuses or reservations.
On the other hand, I do agree with LongHairGal that this is going to really mess up the GB's attempt to get the congregations back to the Halls! Most JWs are paranoid enough, and this is going to really get them frightened, especially as the ones in 'comfortable' western countries tend to live in a bubble where all the bad stuff happens to people 'outside' (until it happens to them, of course).
Some of the comments here are already abhorrent. No one sat in the congregation at a meeting of Jehovah’s Witnesses deserves this. Check your selves, seriously.
German police is now saying that there's no shooter on the run. Which means that the shooter may be among the dead. That being the case, and since we know JWs don't carry weapons for selfdefense, perhaps the shooter committed suicide?

"Vehren said police were alerted to the shooting about 9:15 p.m. and were on the scene quickly. He said that after officers arrived, they heard a shot from an upper floor and found a person upstairs who may have been a shooter. He said police did not have to use their firearms.
Vehren said there was no immediate indication that a shooter was on the run and that it appeared likely that the perpetrator or perpetrators were either in the building or among the dead."
