Looks like inflation is running rampant for the Watchtower Organization if they are now charging 70% more for Circuit Bragging Assemblies. How many of you did the accounts like this brother who wrote the details how things run?
We had to pay almost $3000 for a Bethel Couple to come out and give a talk that was not worth $20, his speaking style and constant reminder "The End is Nigh" according to the Slave. I get tired of hearing "Do you know how much the Faithful Slave loves you?"
Donations were not set aside for roofing, plumbing, other repairs that might be needed, the Elders who were the heads of the Assembly would drain the accounts and tell the friends "We started the Assembly with a $8000 deficiet, we know you will set aside your valuable things and take care of these expenses because of your love of Jehovah!"
Where did all the money go, it's not enough they are draining the Kingdom Halls of all their surplus cash, they need to drain the Circuit Assemblies of all monies too! I experienced some heated discussions from brothers who thought it was stupid to drain all the cash to and lie to the brothers and say 'we have no money!". The brothers who got angry were not used as financial helpers and often left the Organization because they saw the Watchtower used them!

These are the public records from the Charities Commission web site on the halls in England. You can check cash on hand etc. by looking at the accounts.
The interesting one, as I have noted before, is the Surrey Assembly Hall (Haysbridge). This is the obvious cash cow. I was a little surprised that most of the other halls are showing income/expenses as roughly even, sometimes having cost considerably more in expenses than got in. A little digging in the accounts may explain why this is, for example there are some large somes put down to depreciation as opposed to specific expenses.
It's also interesting that Dudley had the same income two years running.

Interesting figures in the latest East Pennine Hall accounts....
Operating costs....£162,975
Other resources expended £135,924, with £345k the year before and £314k the year before that, apparently for refurbishment.
The accounts from 31/8/11 says...
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
During the year a refurbishment project was undertaken of the assembly hall. The trustees reserved £400,000 for the work, £314,674 was spent during the year. So, perhaps they are showing almost £800k for refurb over 3 years when they reserverd £400k, which of course was not reserved from exisiting assets, it would have been asked in extra donations from the R&F.
This whilst showing assets of £6 million....

Hi,
I've been lurking here for a while, was brought up a witness, and left in 2007. Upped and left half way through a meeting when I couldn't stand it any more. But fet compelled to comment on this. I've worked for charities, Oxfam and Mercy Corps, and have been investigating JW's accounting half heartedly for a couple of months. It's easy to make the assembly halls run at a loss - registered as charities then all they need to do is donate excess funds to the WTBTS or the worldwide work, and BOOM, there's no mony left. I really believe they've got a pretty sophisitacted scam going on when it comes to donations etc.

Which is exactly what goes on @gonzobear

It explains too the need for all the different legal entities the WTBTS have, makes it very very hard to work out where the money goes. I knew it wasn't the truth a long way back. But hadn't worked out the degree to which it's a financial scam as well as theological!

The only "expense" would be electric and that's certainly not 10 grand for a weekend. Everything else is already paid for and any maintenance is done free by volunteers. Literature is already paid for, trucks bringing it, paid for. Bethel drivers, paid for. That's all paid for through 200 yrs of adherent donations.
Why does a DO have 600 dollars worth of weekend expenses? Whole families don't have that. Rental cars are only $99 for a weekend.
I mean really.
