Haven't seen it but I've heard great reviews. I'll pick up the book tomorrow. But SeanPenn and Tim Robbins are fantastic actors, and didn't ClintEastwood direct the film?
Yes, he directed it, and also did the music! :-o
Penn and Robbins really pull through in this movie. The cast was just excellent. Fishburne, Laura Linney, Kevin Bacon all did an excellent job too. :D
Oh dear. I was going to wait for the DVD and watch this one, but when a poster here mentioned that a character smashes a childs face, and the screen shows it all in detail, well, I made a decision that I don't need to see that movie as bad as I thought.
Sorry, Sentinel, my intent was not to discourage anyone from seeing the movie. The violence is not gratuitous or entertaining... it is rather, a powerful and tragic expression of how emotional harm can result in physical harm.
The movie is very intense, however, so I would not recommend seeing it if you are very sensitive.
I have a background of violence - and I liked the movie a lot. Life is violent.
When there is a physical fight - yeah, it's hard to watch. But taken in context with WHY that violence occurred..........well, it's understandable - if not acceptable. (being politically correct here)
I found the end much more unacceptable......but understandable.
Would highly recommend the movie for thinking about later.
Saw Master & Commander too - was also good....but in an entirely different way. Good adventure movie.
waiting
Like Rodney Dangerfield, I GET NO RESPECT!
I started a 'Mystic River' Thread the same day the movie opened.
Oops! Boy am I behind the curve... seems like our sentiments about the movie were similar, however!
*bows before Funchback* I respect you, I respect you!
I started a 'Mystic River' Thread the same day the movie opened.
don't feel bad.. the same happened to me with the Matrix Revolution.. I saw it in an early screening a few days before the public release and someone else started one on the day it opened....
Did anyone see Gothika yet?
oh... I saw 21 Grams with Sean Penn.. dark sort of depressing movie.. and choppy as far as real time and showing clips here and there.. I was ready to walk out after 5 minutes... (I have never done that).. the only part I liked about the movie was when I turned to look at my bf and he whispered he loved me.. (in other words... I wouldn't recommend the movie)
