  Yes, they are private companies but it seems they got together and decided to take this action collectively in response to the desire of elected officials.

  This is different than if a company just decided to ban someone because they violated site policy.

  no it isnt, fortunately. Business have an absolute right to make those decisions and we as customers have the right to complain and take our business elsewhere. The political right owns talk radio... should radio stations be forced to give air time to left leaning hosts, even if the shows are unpopular and dont make money? I say no way. If Twitter and fb become unfriendly to so called conservative or right leaning voices then those users will leave. Thats freedom my friend. I would never trade it.

  What seems odd is that he wasn’t banned for any of the conspiracy theories. It was “hate speech.” And they can’t seem to point to any specific instances as the cause, just a general “we don’t like what you are saying, so you are banned.”

  A few thoughts:

  1) Even though they are a private company, you didn’t see this type of logic applied by the left regarding cake shops refusing to bake cakes for gays.

  2) YouTube and Facebook funnel billions of dollars of revenue through these sites, and people spend lots of time and money advertising and building an audience on these sites. They do this (spend the money and time) with specific terms of use in mind. This may end up being a significant civil lawsuit against these companies, especially for some nebulous “hate speech” subjective reason.

  3) I am aware that no law has been passed, but I am very uneasy about congress members lobbying for more bans (for their political opponents, of course).

  Hmmm, I am getting into this more (been away from the news for a few days). They are not naming specific instances or exames of violations, so it leads one to believe if they did name specific instances, it would probably necessitate the banning of many other sites.

  And if they list “conspiracy theories,” that would take down hundreds of channels.

  And if they list “fake news,” then that would take down CNN.

  Mmm, no argument from me. Its very targeted and very specific to jones who many credit with getting trump elected (not accurate, in my view). This is clearly nonsense and they cant back it up or apply it consistantly... but that dosent change my view. Its their right. And its the right of those who dont agree to refuse to do business with them.

  The fact that many have restricted him access to their medium what does this say on our freedoms of speech?

  That the oh so tolerant left only tolerates freedom of speech IF you say what they want you to say. Kind of like JW's, IMO.

  If whoever runs YouTube chooses to ban something, they have every right to do so because it is their platform.

  If whoever runs a bakery chooses to decline to make a cake for a homosexual wedding, they have every right to do so because it is their bakery. See how that works?

  These platforms are so bigly. There are more people using them to communicate than there were people using phones when Ma Bell monopoly was broken up.

  I think an anti-trust suit is gonna happen.

  These Social Media companies are gonna be regulated like phone companies eventually.

  AT&T can’t deny me phone service because I believe the DNC rigged the primaries and that Hillary colluded with a foreign agent to get compromising information on Trump.

  I'm glad he's gone I mean I'm ALL FOR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION and the press and everything but these are businesses that have a RIGHT to ban anybody they want.
