Heh, heh, Bebu! You're the first person who's ever reacted that way - the toddler up the road even used to call me Santa Claus!

It is obvious why they go by the standards set in "the business world". They themselves are nothing but a huge corporation so it stands to "reason" that is how they try to present themselves.
From what I've heard about the early days of the WT Corp., The restrictions on facial hair is, uh, rooted in the Rutherford takeover days. Brothers trying to adhere to Russell's views were likely to emulate him by beard wearing. Rutherford put a stop to that and the tradition continues.

I used to have a psychologist who had a well-trimmed beard, and was a very respected man. It's not considered taboo anymore.

It'll be years before the WTS drops their ridicolous opinion on beards, the GB have a specific moral perspective due to growing up in the earlier parts of the century, and expect all the loyal dubs to be submissive and do things their way.

When I see how clean cut they are I simply think "cannot put trust there"

They talk about the world, because they are of the world.

It's partly why I'm growing my beard as long as I can.

I intend to fork it, and then, when it gets long enough, put it into two braids.

I also have tattoos for the same reason.

Shame, really, how I have to keep rebelling against the stupidity, but it's a very real need.

Just last week, we had a very bad problem with an individual
who wanted to grow a beard in a congregation, and his reason was
that, uh, why shouldn't he? Jesus grew a beard and if we wanted to
be so much like Jesus, why would we say that it's not so good
for a Christian to grow a beard at the world's end? Well, people want to
    be independent in their minds.

Well, Jesus did wear a beard. But Jesus also wore a garment that looked
like a dress. So would they want to put one of those on, or would they want
to wear sandals? So the time and season is not ripe. It's not for a person
to do thus and so just because they can find an instance in the bible.
