Loose Conduct

How the elders came to know about this is of utmost importance. Did somebody confess or did they confide with a friend who recommended that they confess?

...or they would have to tell themselves. If it looks like they are repentant only because they got caught, that won't help things.

Where did you get the condom?

Reminds me of the lad who would stop by the lake after school for a swim every day. Because he got in trouble at school his parents punished him with no swimming all week.

The next morning his mom found a bathing suit and towel in his scoolbag. "Are you planning to swim after school?", she demanded. "No", he protested, "I only brought them along in case I get tempted."

I wish I knew how to quote..... I clicked the quote button but cant get out of it once I paste the quote to type normal again.

He told the elders himself. I remember they used to say the level of repentance must match the gravity of the sin(complete BS)

I told him to display fruits befitting repentance and do a complete 180 and turn away from his sinful course.

I was thinking he needs to get his wife in on the meeting and show that she forgives him. He needs to say that he is so upset that he hurt Jah, the congregation and his wife and that he doesn't even feel worthy of his forgiveness.

I think we may do a mock monkey trial and practice it a few times.

They will ask what he was thinking about when he was doing this. They will ask if he was enjoying this activity. They will ask about the size and shape of her nipples.

The elders don't have to ask these questions. The sinners wife will be asking these questions over and over again for a very, very long time to come.

''or they would have to tell themselves. If it looks like they are repentant only because they got caught, that won't help things.''

Usually a confession is a '''mitigating'' factor on the matter. Getting ''caught'' definitely looks ''guilty'' in their eyes. Wont' usually help the outcome, you're right, unfortunately.

The elders may expect one of the them to find new employment. I knew of one former Witness, who had an affair with her boss. She was a single mother with two boys. The elders suggested she quit her job,she refused ,so she was disfellowshipped.

Forget how the elders will respond and ask yourself instead whether you would be so tolerant of your spouse fondling and kissing someone else. So far, not one word about this very relevant aspect.

Hangin_on - Yeah I told all of them to S my D years ago #Faded

I just can't resist pointing out that fading is pretty much the exact opposite of telling someone where to go and what to do. It's slipping out the back door and hoping nobody notices. That's cool and all and people have their reasons and good for them, just usually not quite putting the org in their place or telling anyone anything.

I also agree with Steve that the whole situation is weird and the focus seems to be on getting this guy off (pun intended). It seems like there are larger problems here.

I didnt address their marital issues. They resolved them but yes I would be upset as well.

After the fade I went to some meetings and they tried to get my publisher cards and such. I told them thats not happening and I just won't come to the hall anymore. I guess everyone is bored so now they are picking me apart and the thread.

The thread was entitled "loose conduct" not "my friend transgressed his wife and needs advice getting her forgiveness"

ohhh, just screw the confession anyway. You're best bet is NOT tell these thugs(elders) anything. They probably already determine your fate prior to heading to JC. Once that letter comes to you, they already have some predetermined punishment coming to you. The inevitable is the inevitable, if they don't want you around, they don't want you around and will 'out' you.
