  Well, there's the old saying, Where's there's smoke there's fire. I just remember seeing him and his family at 'assemblies' held in the Glendale, Ca auditorium many years back. Michael was probably 6. I felt a little sympathy for him then. Something was wrong...

  He was beaten almost daily... pretty horrible upbringing.

  When he dangled the child over the balcony, he definitely was guilty of abusing his child. I use this ie. if that was your babysitter and you had video of him/her dangling your child over a balcony, wouldn't you consider charging? I would.

  But I don't believe he is guilty of sexual abuse. Neither does my sister or brother. And we all were victims of sexual abuse. You'd think we'd be the first to believe it.

  He definitely has made tons of mistakes. No way should he be sleeping in bed with children. He needs to be resting his head on the coach of a therapist's office.

  I saw in an interview with the English guy that Michael said, "I'd rather cut off my arms than hurt a child."

  I believed him.

  My abuser father would never say that...he'd put it this way, "I'd rather cut my arms off than admit to abusing any children."

  Of course, I don't know if my instincts are correct. Call me naive: I want to believe he is innocent.

  I tend to lean more towards not guilty....because

  He has access to children all over the world. Why would he pick a child that has access to the court system, lawyers, ect...

  Also, there are parents that would gladly sell their children to him for money, drugs, ect...

  Morrisamb, you brought out an interesting point, '...we all were victims of sexual abuse. You'd think we'd be the first to believe it.' My son was a victim, I know where your coming from. Surprising how those who 'never' experienced such sexual abuse are quick to make judgments.

  We have to allow, 'due process' to take its course. Whatever ruling MJ gets, he will be like Cain, MARKED/LABELED!

  My gut instinct tells me it is only smoke...and for all the reasons already stated by those of you who feel or want to think he is not guilty. Even if a guilty verdict comes up, who really knows if it is true or not? only those who were supposedly involved. Shamus wrote: He was beaten almost daily... pretty horrible upbringing. Abuse, no matter what form, causes our minds to protect itself in many ways, Schitzo, multiple personalities, uncontrolled reactions when put under certain conditions, and it goes on... I used to also see 'Wolfman Jack' with the Jackson family at assemblies, does anyone know if Wolfman stuck with it or wisely left the borg???

  There is more than one sort of sexual abuser.... there are those out there who never do anything to HARM a child in the sense of making the child believe he was harmed...but are never the less guilty in the eyes of the law because they have violated cultural and moral norms... instead of co-ercion and threats, they use bribery and exploit natural desires all children have towards their own sexuality. I believe MJ is one of these... he can honestly believe that he has NEVER harmed a child and be very convincing about it... and most of the children would not come forward because of not realizing they had been molested... until they learn how society classifies it...and then they might not come forwards because they would no be ashamed for enjoying it, or afraid of being labelled because of it, or still have loyalties to MJ...perhaps other reasons.

  Our society does not care if a child enjoys sex or not, we have determined that until a certain age, they are not capable of determining things like that for themselves... this age varies wildly from state to state. in some states it can be as low as 12, here in florida it is 16 as long as the other is under 24... which seems a bit arbitrary.

  at one time 13 was considered an adult in most cultures, especially since a great many died before age 40. however, we must consider that no stable culture of any duration has ever allowed sex for the sake of pleasure to be permitted... some are pushing that way now..but it is my suspicions this will never be allowed by the majority... perhaps rightly so, the sexual revolution has been a basic failure... we need to learn to fix our emotions first... just as we need to learn to drive a car before we get behind the wheel in real traffic.... too many are sexually driving without proper instruction and causing all sorts of problems.

  Sex and children are definitely a dangerous mix... but that does not mean that children do not enjoy sex... they can and often do have play sex at very young ages and do not always know that others consider it morally wrong or wrong in any way... I think most kids figure out its something that would get them in trouble if they were caught without anyone telling them directly. I remember as child, some of us had a secret pleasure of exposing ourselves...but even though no one told us it was wrong, we believed we would be punished if ever caught.

  Any time an adult is involved he is violating what he knows is the societal standard he is living under, and he can only be willing to take such a risk if he is being seduced by the drug addiction like nature of sex and using children as his drug... there are no happy endings for most of these adults as their inner guilt often trips them up.... the ones who let their paranoia about being caught get the better of them often are abusers and threateners who try to buy a child's silence with fear.
