MANY DIFFICULT YEARS AHEAD : PER CHRISTENSEN

I was born in 1979, so I'm technically Generation X.

I can confirm that our "Generation" is def the 1st to really wake up and leave en masse. It's no exaggeration to state that out of the people my age I grew up with in the religion 9 out of 10 (90%) left, and have NEVER come back. Some are even grandparents now, and so it's literally 2 "generations" removed from the JW's.

In the mid-90's, we saw the game was up. Now I can't point to just one red flag. But in hindsight, the extreme fear in the 1980's of "any day now the Great Tribulation is going to break out", evaporated. A few things caused this to happen. In 1989, the Berlin Wall fell. 1991, the USSR dissolved. These were truly shocking events for people my age. Combine this with grunge and the fact that we actually made it to high school, then GRADUATED......when all the while growing up we were basically told that we wouldn't even MAKE IT TO high school, much less graduate or have to get a job. So this really shook a lot of us Awake! The 1995 generation mast-head change wasn't even shocking to us, because by 1995, we were 16 and starting to work after school, so we weren't even paying attention to those changes. Hell, I didn't even know about that until 1999-2000, when I started searching Yahoo! with my questions and doubts and scales totally fell from my eyes. 9/11 - Truly a game changer. My reaction was, "My Gawd, if this doesn't usher in the UN attempting to ban religion and cause WW3 and the Great Tribulation, nothing will." The long Afghanistan War aside, 9/11 came and went just as all previous wars and no "End" in sight. This was probably the final nail in the coffin and sealed the deal on WatchTower's previous century of constant fear-mongering my "Generation." Enough was enough, and we were then totally out of there. Not only that, but were out of there AND resentful about a childhood lost and stolen to a man-made end-times apocolyptic CULT!

Today? Youth search and ask AI about everything. Nothing WatchTower has done or is doing will EVER be hidden again. The jig is up. Any 5 minute scan of the JW's reveals their dubious, weird, psycho history and high-control cult BS. Just like Scientology, their hey-day is now in the past. VERY much in the past. No amount of "lightening the reins" or serving up "baby food" is going to change that. Like I said....I know several grandparents my age who left in the 90's, and then raised their kids outside the JW's, and now their kids have kids.....never even been exposed to the JW's except to hear warnings against joining up with them.

    Checkmate, WatchTower.

    @wingcommander, spot on!

I'm from 1970, generation X also, but in another time frame.

My parents discussed the 1975 debacle, with family and friends.

I read the forced "appologize" in the 1980 WT

My father told me in the early 80's about the Ray Franz news acricle in Times magazine.

In the 80's we got the you can life forever on a paradise on earth franchise. It was a promiss to good to be true.

Then the Revelation franchise, WT became more anti gouvernement and anti UN. We studied this book again and again with revisions. For me the first signal that truth could be revised.

Then the book about Religions came and we did not study it. Questions raised about this.

The 1995 generation change was my loyality Waterloo.

The Daniel fantasy book was for me proof they made the theology up.

The JW Media office, the Stamd Firm and the political connections of European Association of JW, the France JW organization Aid Afrique and the JW Survivor Fund and the works of JW researcher Johannes Wrobel opened my eyes about relations with the outside world.

Had contact with an University professor. He was invited by jw.org over the years for advise.

The sell of the Brooklyn property.

    The UN scandal.

    The change to family night.

The Beard, woman trouser and exit of field service report.

    The change of disfellowship.

    The exit of Morris III

    The overlapping generations.

Over all these years, what a circus, what a clowns and what a rollercoaster.

Since 2008 pomo, feeling better then ever and saved our children for the sect dangers.

Revelation Climax book released in 1988.

I still have my original copy

The Borg applied for UN NGO status in 1991 & was accepted in 1992.

Subsequent affiliation for 9 years until a Guardian newspaper called them out.

The Borg was found out. Within a week of this discovery the Borg formally applied to have their membership revoked.

This triggered the Borg to issue an "insert" to the Revelation Climax book which was studied about a half dozen times,,,prior to this discovery & insert.

The Revelation Climax book was only studied once or twice using this,,, at least once.

Subsequently the Revelation Climax book has been unceremoniously moth - balled & never discussed.

    WOW!!

WingCommander: But in hindsight, the extreme fear in the 1980's of "any day now the Great Tribulation is going to break out", evaporated.

That's a good point. They learned not to set hard dates after 1975, but they did want to keep the urgency of the end times in place. The 1980s may have been the last hard push. 1984 was seventy years after 1914, so the end had to be near. 1986 was the UN's 'year of peace and security,' so the end had to be near. 1989 was the fall of the Berlin wall and communist Russia, so the end had to be near.

By 1990 most JWs had to be exhausted by it. Maybe that is why I started a slow and reluctant fade. Being disappointed so many times takes a toll, especially if you wanted it to be true. Maybe that is also why the 1995 change regarding generations was done so quietly. But at this point you also had the year 2000 panic, which meant that... the end had to be near. And nothing happened.

When you go through this over a 20-30 year period, the excuse that "they didn't really say it was the end" not only rings hollow, it is insulting. And it becomes clear that they are trying to have it both ways, making you believe that the end is almost here, then blaming you for 'misunderstanding' their bullshit. In 20-30 years, someone will be saying that Lett's "last part of the last days" talk was misunderstood by people who were too eager for the end to come.

    They have it both ways.

Making you believe the "end" is imminent.

But blame you for putting too much thought & sentiment into that. Making you feel like the idiot.

Its imperative that Letts video is preserved for 30 years. Something when the pandemic started in March 2020 about the final part of the final part of the last of the last days.
