What makes you alive in spirit?

What makes life worth living? What is it that you do that makes life all worth it?

For me, I enjoy mountians. But I just cannot visit them; I need to live in them. There is just something about long winters, short hot summers, and the incredible beauty of being in the middle of nowhere when you climb or ski... to be in the middle of nowhere where only a few have gone before is an incredible trip spiritually... the work, the rewards. The solitude.... it belongs to nobody but all who venture far distances.

I know that lots like motorbikes... but is that it that makes you tick? What are your loves in your life?

When Grandchildren burst through the front door full of energy on a grey, drab, November day then I know life is worth living.

My kids, definitely my kids. They are my life. And my wife too of course (they kind of come as a package).

Also, friendships are much more important to me now since we lost so many when leaving the WTS and discovered they weren't really friends at all. Meeting people is a real highlight which is saying something because I find it quite an ordeal (being quite awkward socially).

I do love mountains too ... something about them definitely does make you want to live their (we just want to live where we can see them though!)

Hey Shamus! Hope your doing alright.

In my case it is definately having a solid marraige. Tink is the best person I know and will ever know. I'm the type of person who needs a mate. Having a good mate to me is important. We're best friends and totally devoted to each other. I also love the out doors. I love to see the wonders of the earth. We have made some really good friends lately too. Having good friends is important too. These things make me appreciate life.

    I'm okay, CC.

It's just that depression can come and go with me, and I wonder these things actively.

Realistically, I never go a day without thinking about suicide, but it is pretty much under control for now.. but, during these dark moments, these thoughts come into my head and I wonder what keeps everyone going.

It is simple things, really. Belonging... thank god my sister is so nice, although a bit trashy... she is very loving and very open with my neices and nephews. I am very lucky to have such a special person in my life! I would die for my neices and nephews no bloody problem. They are what make me live right now!

Shamus, I have a couple sayings I ponder on when ever I get down. First is "Nothing every stays the same. The only thing constant is change". Things always change and usually all the time it's for the better, which leads to the second one. "Good things happen to good people". You sound like a good person, from the time I've known you here and reading your posts. Good things will happen for you and things will change for the better...mark my words.

I'm glad you have a great sister. Thats real important. Tink has 4 sisters, she loves them all, but is not real close to any of them.

    Hang in there Bud!!

The moment that take my breath away. To feel, intense, to know I am alive. Those moments vary from my first cup of coffee in the morning to kissing a loved one. Life in all its aspects, is worth living.
