What Makes Living Worth It?

    got my forty homey?

My days off from work when I can stay home in the country away from the hell hole called New York City!

Walking my German Shepard exploring abadoned farms, having a beer with my neighbor, getting projects done around my house, spending time with my wife, popping a few hydrocodones or bitalbutals and web surfing, watching a good movie on cable, enjoying a beautiful sunset.

    Dumb shyt I guess.

    Hi Shamus!

I would die for my neices and nephews no bloody problem. They are what make me live right now!

For the sake of your nieces and nephews, and the incredible sorrow and grief you would cause them by suicide, you should always remember to LIVE for them and save yourself to be there for any real life-saving situation.

...I think that our biggest questions seem to always boil down to, "How can I really know for sure whether I matter or not?" One college teacher, talking about this, answered with, "Because we just ARE important!!!" (Though she said it forcefully... what was her evidence for this statement? She believed it, but couldn't give any other answer than this.)

As a Christian, I believe that if God did love the world enough to die for us, we have all gained in His eyes the same value of the life of Jesus. My own feelings about my worth can change, but God's opinion doesn't. If Jesus truly died for our sins, and then rose (defeating death), that eternally settles the question. God loves me; I can hold my head up, and tell my feelings where to get off.

(I read multitudes of statements from folks on the board about how "religion is useless" or "organized religions are evil". I see religion simply as a framework for reality. Every poster here has a religion (a framework) that they believe in. We are always making adjustments. At any rate, religion is important in practical life. Practically speaking, religions answer the hardest questions there are, such as the one you just asked. So, if you asked this question in the deepest sense, you asked something religious, I think.)

Watching my kids glow with excitement over something so simple as taking a walk together...

The first rays of sun on a clear morning.....

My children's love notes tucked in my books......

Insects happily dancing around the late evening glow....

My cat lazily spralled in front of the fireplace....

The smell of fresh rain on pavement.....

    The smell of baked bread.....

When my kids tell me they love me and that I'm the best Mom ever.....

    Makeing someone smile.....

The smell of fresh laundry especially clean sheets.....

    Flowers on the kitchen table.....

    Candle light and soft music.....

    Touching and being touched.....

My kids make my life worth the hassle. Things that touch me:

    Sunrise over the wilderness lakes in northern MN;

    The extraordinary quiet of night after snowfall in the dead of winter; the stars are out, the air is usually still, and even though the air is frigid, I feel so alive and in touch spiritually;

The perspective that recovery meetings give me. I have 20 years clean, but my brain gets upside down without them.

And, not to play to the crowd, but I love this place. I feel sharply the loss of fellowship at the meetings, and it is nice to be here.

    My husband Euphemism.

It really sucks that everything came out at our wedding...and we're having to deal with all the emotional aftermath crap during our honeymoon and first year of marriage. It's not fair...but I'm so glad we have each other. <3

Hey Shamus, sorry I didn't mean to ignore this thread.

For me, there's something about just being 'alive', that I love.

Also, knowing that someone, somewhere 'special' cares a great deal for me, and me them.

    My brother's soon-to-be-born baby boy.

    Good friends.

    My pet birdies.

    Good food, good beverages.

That I can impart some sort of comfort to anyone, either expected or unexpected, makes me realize I'm around for some reason.

Rayzorblade is glad to be alive.

That's all I am familiar with.
