The Luke/Testimonium connection has certainly stirred new debate with arguements generally revolving around opinions of Lukan or Josephine priority. Some are selling the idea of a common source for Luke and Josephus as proof of Historical Jesus. Others see the same as proof of early Christian tampering with Josephus followed by "Luke's" lifting from the doctored Josephus.(search: luke Josephus) The "lost Josephus" is another interesting piece of the mess that Doherty discusses in the essay I mentioned. Lets not forget the Russian recension of Josephus having very different Jesus issues. Anyone that says the matter is closed is being less than truthful or being quoted out of context.
