Just took a pumpkin pie out of the oven and tomorrow morning the turkey gets smoked. We're having a our last remaining Witness friends over before we get thoroughly into our Christmas decorating mode. Somehow I think it might be a bit strained if they come for dinner later in the season and find a big ol' Christmas tree in the front parlor! Thought I'd spare them this year. One family has had a lot of things happen to make them see the extreme lack of love in the Borg and I've told them what we're up to (except for the Christmas tree) and it's almost like they're curious about our new life. The other two (he's an elder) are unfortunately almost completely assimilated by the Borg but still feel the pull to be friends with us and mercifully don't preach at us. I think it's because they know deep down they haven't got a leg to stand on but will continue doing what the Borg tells them until the day they die because, like my dad, they "don't know where else to go." I think they would have to have something drastic happen to them personally before they would have the guts to leave, as I did. And I don't think that will happen, so one day I'm sure our friendship will be just a memory for them.
And after they go, . . . OUT COMES OUR FIRST CHRISTMAS TREE!!!! This is going to be a fun weekend.
