  I worked for a female doctor from India, for about 3 years. She was like corpsec said, very condescending. Her office was on the third floor of the hospital. When we would walk to the caferteria for coffee or something, she insisted that I walk 3 steps behind her. I also found her to be somewhat, ummm, nasty as to hygiene. For instance, she regularly came in with greasy hair and dirty finger nails. She also didnt have regular paper covers for her examining tables, she used pieces of silk fabric, that she took home once a week to be cleaned.

  She also married her daugher (14) off to her husbands brother. I questioned her about that, she simply said that's the way they do things. Keep the wealth in the family. She herself was married to her father's brother.

  LOL Lisa, I think the divorce rate in India is like 2%, so maybe the arranged marriage thing isn't such a bad idea. Maybe I'll be singing a different tune in a few months, but right now they sure seem like the friendliest people.

  Here's the thing:

  India has the most advanced form of scientific method for finding God. Their culture is built around this idea completely. The Hindu scriptures are the oldest religious text in the world, going back almost 6000 years. They contain very detailed examples of how to find God. Their form of religion is not merely religion, but rather a science. It isn't "pray, go out in service, sell some watchtowers", but literally detailed practices (like Yoga) and others that are a direct means of accessing the supernatural. When you assimilate the higher ideals of religious aspiration into your everyday life, it has an effect on the population. In order to clean their Karma and fulfill their Darhma, most Indians lead good lives. It's the simple by product of being closer to God as a nation as a whole. In the West, we look at the Indians as if they are lower down on the food chain as a poor, third world power. Yet spiritually, they are much more an advanced society than we are.

  We had an Indian family at the end of our street where we used to live and they were the *nicest* family (and wow, some Indian women are incredibly pretty!).

  It's sad that they had to put up with a lot of brain-dead racist abuse from the indigenous morons.
