I agree Dan, they show the greatest hospitality when someone enters their house, I was treated like a king by the family of a freind of mine who had never even met me before. They make an aweful cup of tea though....:)

Felines always think they're kings. It's in the genes. or jeans.
As for India people? The only ones I've met run hotels/liquor stores/convenience stores/Subways around here. Without exception - they don't talk much. The women talk even less.
Always polite & friendly, as has been brought out.
Kinda makes one wonder what they're up to, eh?
I'm kidding!

Some are great, some are turds. Just like anyone.
very true, i worked in nurisng area with them for so many years and have come bery bad interchanges with them. Some truly hate americans and are really verbal about it.
Glad u had a good experience.
It's sad that they had to put up with a lot of brain-dead racist abuse from the indigenous morons.
I don't think India-Indians in the U.S. are treated with very much stigma, people make fun of the way they talk but I've never heard of any serious abuse. Now American Indians, on the other hand...
We have done some business with them, and Dave doesn't like to work for them (drywall contracting). He says they are always trying to get him to drop his prices, or negotiate a deal, or they agree to the price and then add more to the job. He usually turns them down now. When they start to try and negotiate, Dave or one of the boys, just tells them "we aren't interested in doing this job because our price is set..............no dealing". They don't like that.
On the other hand, I've met several Indians in my business, and find them to be warm, hospitable and generous. When I was in Malaysia, a group of Indians (Malaysia has a large Indian population) invited me out to dinner. I love Indian food, but they took me to a private journalist's club, where we were served an American dinner of lamb chops, carrots, red potatoes and salad. It was incredibly thoughtful of them, but I would have really loved Indian food. They treated me like a celebrity and that was cool.
We have lots of them living in our area too, and I have no problem with them. They seem very shy to me and since September 11, I always wonder if they are afraid we will think they are Muslims. Most are Hindus or Catholics though. (the Pakistanis are Muslim.............not too many Indians)
The wrong Indians got the bomb...and 200 years too late...
