If attendance is high, the GB will tout that as proof that JWs have the truth.

If attendance is low, the GB will talk about people's hearts growing cold in the last days, proving that Armageddon is just around the corner.

    DOC:

AND I MUST ADD -- I did not hear "this may be the last time we do this . . . ."

Those who used to say that have died off .... and the new ones don't care.

I wouldn’t trust the accuracy of any numbers the WBTS reports for anything. They can add zoom attendees to make up what ever number they need to keep the faithful mildly impressed.

Cognitive dissonance to see dwindling meeting attendance, combined circuits and congregations, thousands of empty seats in previously well attended conventions and still believe any reported growth.

i didn’t receive any invites this year, I think it’s a first. Less stress for me lol.

It was packed where I attended. I don't know how many were on zoom.

Haven't gone for 25 years. We live very close to a KH but did not bother checking # attending, 4 congregations sharing one KH, so only 2 can have it at the KH, and the other 2 have to rent space. Numbers are very subjective. For many attendees, it is the only jw meeting they attend a year, then have little to nothing after with jw meetings. Numbers don't really matter. The other expected activities, especially "counting" time are gone, and amount was suspicious before that. Attendance went up a lot after 9-11 but dropped of quickly after "armageddon" did not follow it.

Good point Blonde. "For many attendees, it is the only jw meeting they attend a year, then have little to nothing after with jw meetings. Numbers don't really matter."

Reminds me of my Aunt's non JW husband. Retired naval commander. Dressed like WW2 General MacArthur, with aviator sunglasses and pipe. Could talk for hours about... himself. A real narcistic jerk. Checked her housekeeping with a white glove. Literally! :) He attended about half the memorials for 60 yrs. so his wife and the rest of the JW family would treat him as "Goodwill" and would not "stumble" him. Every year for 60 years Mom and my aunts would get so excited if he went, or flipped a page in a bathroom Awake magazine. If my Aunt did ANYTHING that displeased him he would point out "doesn't seem Christian to me". It was a club he used on her and the kids.

He got a lot of mileage from that two hours out of his year.
