Would You Stop Buying A Product Because of Political Differences?

The only place I stopped "shopping" at is planned Parenthood. I used to get birth control from them because it was cheapish and I don't have insurance. But after learning more about abortion and all of that I get my birth control from New Zealand.

*I don't judge anyone else for supporting them, I just don't feel right about it for me.

I suppose some people do, but do the companies notice? There was a call to boycott Chic-fil-A over the founders stance on same sex marriage, but Chic-fil-A enjoys record growth. And then there was the call to boycott Nike because of the Betsy Ross shoe thing. Didn't seem to hurt Nike one bit. Will Conservatives stop using Google, Facebook, or Twitter because of those firms Liberal leanings? Good luck with that. It seems most people lose their indignation over something after a day or two.

A little side note. When Nike dropped the Betsy Ross shoe because the Betsy Ross flag is now a white supremacist symbol as it was seen being carried at rallies, I thought white supremacists should start wearing Nike apparel and carrying Nike Swoosh flags when they march. I wonder how Nike would respond to that turn of events?

    MINIMUS:

If I needed the product, I’d buy it anyway if it could not be obtained easily elsewhere.

    SNUGGLEBUNNY:

I had never seen this commercial and just watched what you posted.

While I think some of the message is good (not bullying), the manufacturer made the mistake of associating something negative with their product. Bad idea.

There are some things you need to buy, there are others that are optional and you buy one brand in preference to others because of the marketing.

I never bought Nike trainers because I think they are overpriced crap, not because they pander to identity politics. They are up there with Beats headphones - overpriced branded crap produced by cheap labor and used to fleece idiots who think image is everything.

I will never buy Gillette products against until they show the severed head of the ideological fucktards that came up with that insulting drivel. Seriously, they make it right by saying that people were fired, not by treating us like idiots that will forget just because they make a "hero" advert instead.

Imagine if the makers of some female products had made an ad who's message was "hey girls, how about your stop being dirty little sluts or psychotic bitches?" ... they should suffer, right?

Most definitely! I supported an effort at my high school to remove Coca-Cola products in the late 80s. This was because they were doing business in South Africa. Very proud to have been a part of this. I still practice this form of protest 30+ years later.

Like a lot of other people I thought the Gillette advert was at best silly, at worst man-hating.

But I like my Gillette Mach 3 razor.

So, I've reached a lazy kinda compromise - I grow my beard out and only shave once a month. This means I spend less money on Gillette products, plus I shave less and I hate shaving every day or every other day.

What I've been thinking of is getting rid of my Gillette stuff and buying a proper old fashioned razor, with the pot of shaving soap and horse hair brush. Anyone still use them? Recommend?

It just gets better and better: Most folk I know aren't racist or anti-gay. They just get fed up with being told what they should believe or feel. That's why I'm certain that this latest ad from Hoseasons Holiday will cost them dearly: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/hoseasons-boss-bans-homophobic-racist-18975111
