I guess what I'm thining about this is who is this student who is acting the part of a senator.

If this person is a JW in University then what is he doing involved with some political discussion.

If he is an ex-JW I think he would know better than to combine politics and religion.

And if it is a never-been then how come he knows when the meetings are?

This might not be what was originally thought but it does raise some questions in my mind - or I'm just too tired and need to get to bed

Lady Lee. The norm is that JW are not in politcs. We have a local poltician that was raised by a JW parent. Just what influence certain people as JW have in politcs makes for good reading. Does the org. use certain people to do their bidding/influence?

six of nine, are you referring to me?

Thanks to all of you for uncovering this information. I never knew that there were high ranking politicians
    working within the "organization".

Hypocrisy without end. The Pharisees were just children compared to the Watchtower.

Can't imagine I was trapped by such

okay...so the senator used to be a JW..big deal...I don't think this shows that JWs are political officials. And just because he annoucned that there was a meeting the public was allowed to go to, I see nothing wrong with that. It sounds like he was telling them where they could go if they were interested in learning about JWs FROM active JWs.

And as far as the business week artilce, they were using Jws and Scientology as scary extremes for the general public. Neither religion has any social programs of real value to the mass population. Ron Hubbard was a greedy genius who created a religion to make millions and sell his books, and JWs annoy people at their homes on Saturday mornings and during football games on Sunday afternoon. My GOD!!! the government will give money to these two groups??? Surely not....the writer of the article knows that mentioning JWs and Scientologists getting government money when there are real socially vaulable faith based programs out there, will piss off a lot of people. Every writer wants an emotional reaction to his or her articles.

Thats my story, and I'm sticking to it....

Thanks to (Faraon)--he has also discovered that there are (Masonic) ties to this student body, and that there are Senator meetings held at the University. Faraon posted some further information he investigated on Kents Forum. He states that this JW Senator must have been with this Masonic organization of Senators for quite some time.---Thanks Faraon--Voyager

Eyebrow, did it surprise to learn about the org's association with the UN? What was your reaction, surprised or not surprised?

How many Bible characters can you cite besides Joseph and Daniel playing prominent roles in government positions? Why the entire nation of Israel became political when they requested a king from Samuel. Samuel was distressed over this request. Jehovah told Samuel that it wasn't him that they rejected, but Jehovah himself. Give them a king he said and they paid the price.

How about the Sanhedrin? I get the feeling that the org. will use you for its purposes and if you don't follow their rules they'll discard you. I've seen a number of good working brothers get the boot. What compensation and help did they get for all their years of service? Have you ever spoken to any that had such an experience?

The guy who was President of Zambia while a JW was eventually disfellowshipped although as gently as possible and things done to maintain friendly relations to thus better advance Watchtower Society interests. Former U.S. President Eisenhower had J.W. parents. It is claimed that Reagan sometimes read the magazines, and that Fidel Castro's mother in Spain is still a JW to his personal chagrin. Thanks for some interesting information. While at it, here's an item some of you may want to mail around to editors, JWs, exJWs and others:

LEGAL EMERGENCY GRIPS GOVERNING BODY OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES: Court documents issued November 2003 charging Derek Packowski and the Watchtower Society corporations over Jehovah's Witnesses were filed by the legal firm of Nolen Saul Brelsford of Sacramento, California. The child molestor and corporations listed as headed by the Governing Body over Jehovah?s Witnesses, were charged with not reporting to law enforcement and systematically conspiring and suppressing information about sexual molestation committed by Packowski when he was in a congregation in Des Plaines, Illinois, also after about 1984 and later in California at the Loomis Congregation from which formed the Rocklin and Sunset Congregations. At Loomis and Sunset congregations he was allowed unsupervised interaction with children including plaintiffs Tim C, Robert C, Andrew C and Trevor L about 1986-1998. Later as a Ministerial Servant he was allowed unsupervised contact with congregation children. Defendants routinely maintained secret archival files regarding sexual abuse by Elders, Ministerial Servants, Pioneers, and other leaders. The file's existence and contents were not disclosed or made available to law enforcement or others in order to investigate the crimes. This was probably the largest lawsuit to date regarding Watchtower pedophile policy. The Governing Body says scripture demands there be two witnesses to a pedophile act although exceptions have sometimes been made and some have cited Solomon's "there is a time and place for everything." Members and former members have also decried the leadership's having been a ten year Non-Governmental Organization of the U.N., an affiliation renewed annually by leaders until discovered at which time it was said membership was just to get a U.N. library card, although the U.N. does not actually require such. Watchtower elders disfellowship (severely shun) those who openly protest, labeling them as apostates (enemies of God), and warning members to ignore media accounts.

Regarding the lawsuit refer to Rudy Nolen, Esq SBN 59808 Jonathan Saul, Esq SBN 189271 William Brelsford, Esq SBN 202839; Nolen Saul Brelsford; 350 University Ave Suite 280; Sacramento, California 95825 Telephone: (916) 564-9990; Facs (916) 564-9991. The only senator with that name is I can now confirm a student at the college, not a U.S. Senator. Kent Steinhaug or his researcher need to be more careful. However, there was also a ten year affiliation as a Non-Governmental Organization with the U.N. which angered those members who have learned of it, and which the leadership tried to explain away as simply for getting a U.N. library card.
