James, just a question. Have you actually told any of them not to call? Just that it seems to me they are so desperate these days unless you specifically requested a DNC they wouldn't necessarily stop coming no matter what you told 'em!

I really am thankful for the folks here who have informed me of the methods used today. If I had not been, I would have ignorantly asked about her tablet and then there would probably have been the RV. It really IS a return to the JFR phonographs, just modernized. One doesn't even get a biblical passage read any more. Maybe I should have asked for one of the GB's autographs—oops, no, THAT would have assured a RV!

I'm glad to hear that you were able to handle the situation to your liking. Seems like that JW may not have been from your former congregation, so it may just be part of their typical proselytizing. Either way, by the way you share about it here seems like it didn't stir strong emotions.

You could become a challenge for her to get brownie points in the congregation by getting you back to the meetings.

Diogenesister: I guess I have never told them not to call I figured they would get the hint, so that 's why I will tell them the next time to put my name on the list.

Thanks for the comments. I'd forgotten about the DNC lists. Ding, that's funny!

PZ, that's my hope. I didn't know the sis and I tried hard to look like the typical ignorant householder in his bathrobe. It's hard to play the role as I have nothing against the average R&F Witness and I really do feel for them, trusting implicitly as they do in their leadership. The CO must be in town since she told me, "Our speaker is from out of town" and she invited me to both the Tuesday and Sunday meetings. The colorful tract she gave me was small but had the local cong's meeting times and location, the electronic connections (cell barcode, webpage URL), and options for a "Bible" study, a RV, or a visit to the local KH. The only Bethels listed were in Canada and the US.

One funny thing: she told me, "the meetings are free and there's no collection" and the tract said the same thing. Little does she know that she and her cong's net worth has already been tabulated and filed away!

Maybe I should have said, "I've been reading Luke's gospel. What are these 'Gentile Times'? And what is this generation that will not pass away?" That would have insured an elder visit— LOL!
