WingCommander: the old hot-ass Veteran's Stadium in FilthyDelphia
We went to one there in 1983. I think every day was 95 degrees F and not a cloud in the sky. There was a LOT of seating that had no shade. Except for a few people who brought large umbrellas, everyone was crammed into the seating that had some shade, leaving the large areas near the field almost totally empty. I think we referred to those seats as 'Death Valley.'

I was there in 1983, have the pictures to prove it. What groups would do, is bring along those pop-up awnings and set them up to sit under. So you had rows and rows of these when the sun came out, stretching out all over and in all different colors. It was a rainbow of tents/awnings. Oh, and coolers. You absolutely HAD to have an IGLOO cooler filled with drinks to keep hydrated and snacks for little kids.
"Fun times!" - said no JW kid ever who experienced the concrete monster known as "The Vet" in the summer months of DC times. I watched with glee the video of it being demolished. Good riddance! I actually like the old Capital Centre in Landover, MD much better. It had A/C and a large screen (first one of it's kind, actually) Looked like a bird nest from the outside, actually.

Years ago here on JWN, I had a post that showed what place Jesus had in the WTS publications, it was shocking how Jesus was used mostly as an impersonal tool by Jehovah to provide everlasting life. More recently, the WTS has tried to change that calling themselves the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. I checked the "theocratic" songs then as to how many of them were about Jesus, not many, so sad. Yes, the WTS is trying to re-invent itself.

Jehovah and Jesus are tools used by the GB to create fear and hope for the rank and file. Just like the other religions.
At the end it's all about power and money.

The Governing Body only pay lip-service to Jesus just enough to make it appear as though this is a Christian denomination. Meahwhile, they proclaim that they've been appointed by God Himself to represent and that "all of the gold and silver are mine." Questioning them is the greatest sin of all, the unforgivable sin of Apostasy against the Popes of Warwick.
The reality? It's not; it's a for-profit Neo-Judaic Pharasitical Cult & real estate empire run by false prophets, masquerading as a non-profit Christian religion fronting for Jesus. Huge difference.

In honour of 1914, a lot of attendees attended "invisibly".

Apologies to Sea Breeze: I didn't see his audience parousia comment before mentioning the crowd coming invisibly.
