I would give Prince a pass on this one. I seem to recall that a specialist in prescription drug addiction had been contacted and scheduled to meet with Prince before his tragic death. Despite the criticism of his earlier work, on the rare occasion he gave interviews, I found him to be intelligent and sincere about his beliefs..His addiction was not intentional, but a result of dealing with chronic pain.

Addiction is addiction whether they are drugs proscribed by a medical doctor or not for medical reasons. ,They have a safe dosage use with the drug , if you go beyond that with self medication you are an addict .
Prince apparently OD becoming dependant on this drug Fentanyl , self administered .
He became a drug addict .
Jehovah`s Witnesses have double standards in dealing with the R&F and celebrities .

Overdose of pain killer done mistakenly - I don't see any problem. And neither would I in any person suffering from severe pain and accidentally administering a too high dosis.

Any doctor that prescribed fentanyl for chronic hip pain should be struck off. MJ was killed by the same stuff. It shouldn't leave a hospital.
That is one major disadvantage of paying directly for your healthcare. You pay the doctors bills, you call the shots.
I agree with Smiddy, so-called medical addiction is addiction BUT in this case the poor patient is a victim of his own success, the doctors all want Prince for a patient so they'll give him anything. Elvis too died for the same reasons. Its HUMAN NATURE to get addicted to these drugs. I defy anyone who says they wouldn't.
How many more of our best and brightest will die because of this " doctor shopping" bullshit.

Wrong Smiddy. Some people's physical constitutions render them significantly more susceptible to becoming dependent on even legally prescribed, "recommended" doses - and within a relatively short period of time.
It is incorrect to assume that "addiction" results from abuse or prolonged use of prescription medication.
There have been cases where prescribers have failed to inform patients of the extremely high risk of addiction in using opiod medication and dependence has developed resulting in patients' health becoming compromised and functioning impaired.
