I need to ship cookies and pies to the base where my son is. I thought about using the shipping store that is here locally. Any other tips????

All I can say Shiela is be prepared for a shock -- the postage and shipping will be far more than the value of the cookies and stuff -- I know from experience

Pies would never make it! Try a fruit cake or pound cake (solid like a brick and indestructable).

I would love to send a card.
"Suck"...probably not. I mean...I barely know him! Besides I'm very happily married and where I get all the sucking I want.

Oddly enough Sheila, I've sent things via Canada Post, and while in the US, I've used USPS, sending goodies, and they arrived at their destinations: A-OK!
I know here, in Canada, there are a few different ways to send items (cookies included), there's surface, air mail, and of course, express/overnight delivery.
Um...Sheila...?....you got anymore cookies left over?
I'm planning on sending some goodies to Michigan, soon.

I know it was a typo. I'm just having fun with ya!
PM me his addy and we'll send something too! BTW - do you know what type of grocery stores are around? We could purchase a gift card online and he could go get a fresh one. I realize it's not as good as mom's homemade, but it's better than mess hall food right?

Hey Sheila, all cookie jokes aside, I used a metallic box with corrugated cardboard seperators in-between each layer of goodies.
I put some bubble wrap on the bottom, and on the top, so that things didn't bounce around to much, and my items didn't become permanent 'upside-down cakes'.
I was surprised, because there was this place here in Toronto that made awesome goodies, which I thought: 'ok, they're gonna be crumblies by the time they get to the U.K.', but they were fine! couldn't believe it.
I hope it all works out.
Let's all go to Anthony's military base for Christmas goodies!
