Im seeing my solicitor tomorrow to see about getting an order in place making sure any contact my daughter has with my JW family goes through ME and not my ex-wife.

Explained the situation briefly to the lawyer, she was asking more and more about why should I be concerned if a JW had access to my child.

I mentioned the blood issue, the shunning, the inappropriate pictures of Armageddon in books/mags etc. Do you think I should bring in Watchtower literature to show them what I mean?

What shook me was my mums husband telling me "we don't have to tell you how <daughter> is, we can speak to her mum instead.

By all means, document everything! In my experience, professionals have a hard time wrapping their brains around this level of crazy, but once they see it in writing or even in a video, they are better prepared to assist you.

What does it say to your child that you are shunned by these people? You would never accept less than a package deal if they wanted to come over to your place to see her, and you wouldn't drop her off and turn tail and run in shame either. Fuck that. I think they should be able to understand if they're human (unlike that one douchebag on your thread).

I agree with Sail Away. Reason I say that is when my wife gave her talk on on the JW cult she got better response from the audience when she showed them pictures and quotes from WT literature. That got their attention. Words are great but concrete visual evidence is better. Still Totally ADD

The borg have published some sort of pack advising dubs how to proceed legally in custody battles. I am sure I have seen here or on line somewhere. If you can find it and give a copy to your lawyer he will see what you are up against.

Yes I would take along any printed material you can to show why you are rightly concerned.

Personally I told my in-laws that they could have the children for short visits but only if they were first prepared to sit down with me for a conversation about the ground-rules. That was over 20 years ago. Still waiting for them to get back to me.

Along with the negative material meant directly for child consumption, I'd bring the bit where it says apostates are "mentally diseased" and anything you can find where it suggests that apostates are evil, influenced by satan, etc. I think the likelihood that they will interfere with your child and try to poison her attitudes against you with religious dogma would make your concerns extremely relatable.

Jason Zelda does some videos on child custody cases. I think your solicitor should be aware of what JWs are prepared to do to get their own way. I totally agree with Diane, WE know how crazy JWs are but it's hard for outsiders to understand so take everything you can. Its not to imply that her grandparents are sexual abusers it's more about the people......... JW's in their lives.

As mentioned, document everything, even items you may not initially consider to be relevant. Documentation should include dates and times, who said what, how they said it (face-to-face, telephone, text etc) and a brief reminder of why you had a concern.

Legal standings rely on facts. Uncertainty such as 'I think' and 'maybe' hold little weight whereas written records and other proof only serve to support your position. Show the lawyer evidence of WT images which support your concern. A major part of a lawyer's job is to advise you as the client, things that may be relevant and supportive to the action you are considering.
