Yerusalim, you dunderhead. You are citing one exceptional case. Most people -- the extreme, vast majority -- will not willingly become polygamous. (the reasons for this are legion) Same for a guy who wishes to marry his daughter. Or his dog.

Good for him! If consenting adults want to engage in marriage, group marriage or....or....whatever, let them! B.

I'll buy that. But the issue of consent is actually a factor in the freak in question's situation. He married some of these "consenting adults" when they were all of 12 years old... And then he divorced them to 'legally' marry the next child bride. And his "ex-wives" collect welfare to care for his giant brood of children.

I'm all for consenting adults doing what they like as long as absolutely NO ONE else is negatively affected by their actions. In this case, the list of crminal acts and societal impacts is lengthy.

Just an objective, open ended, open-MINDED question for anyone that wishes to discuss it. Or perhaps multiple questions:

Does a society or civilization NEED morals in order for it to survive, thrive and prosper? And then how do you draw the line between what is moral and what is not?

Last month I read Jon Krakauer's recent book "Under The Banner of Heaven" and it shows how religious beliefs about God-ordained polygamy in the Mormons has been a very negative thing. As the article puts it, "Polygamy is about the subjugation of women."

An interesting article below that mentions Tom Green and Krakauer's book:

No and you don't. MoraIism should not be dictated by the government. I'm a hedonist though....

Tom Green, the convicted polygamist in Utah, is requesting (through his lawyers of course) that the Supreme Court overturn his convictions based both on the Supreme Court ruling on the Texas Sodomy Law and the Massachucetts Supreme Court Ruling on Gay marriage.

So begins the trip down the slippery slope.

And when some psychotic with a few extra dollars to spare on an attorney decides he would like his name in the tabloids by trying to get marriage to space aliens (or to the corpse of Elvis) legalized, it will also be the fault of the gay community, right Yeru??

Let'see here, a crazy cultic religious nut, utilizes a court ruling having nothing to do with the crimes he's charged with to get some time in a courtroom vs time in his cell. And this is going to change the fabric of society?
