I was looking around the official site yesterday, and I found all kinds of "old light".
Your thought occured to me too. I would love the opportunity to show current Jw's the confusion and error from the only website they trust to speak truth.
(They are still expounding the 1914 Generation doctrine on the site for example).
As we have said, it is one thing for the public, and another for service meetings. I shudder to think of all the things I said when I was dub doing the Thursday items.
Everybody knows that if you are not "In the truth" , then you will not get through armageddon .. Hell that it what their ministry is all about.
But when they speak in public, they water it down and go mealy mouthed about it, just so everybody does not instantly turn off.
I remember a Circuit Overseer who said at an assembly "Of course we do not tell them everything. We could say "You must listen, otherwise you will die at Armageddon" It would be true but of course we dont tell them" - everybody laughed in the audience except me
In my opinion that quote STILL says only witnesses will be saved. It says those in the past who were not witnesses could be chosen, and that there is still time for people not yet witnesses to subscribe to their point of view. And what a laugh to try to promote that God alone can judge the heart. If they truly believed this, then there is no place for their judicial committees- they are taking upon themselves the position of god and judge, and claiming that they have the ability to read the heart. As others have said on the thread, the double speak is rampant. And of course there is no hope at all for any of us poor souls who have DARED to reject their insane beliefs!
When a JW comes to my door, I can play an ignorant member of the Public and show them a print out of the JW Media site, and then let them know how happy their leaders make me feel, that I too can be saved by mere love of truth and righteousness alone,
