I was going D2D one day, alone but with a group. I knocked and a very angry man came to the door. He said, "Why do you people kick out your children when they become pregnant out of wedlock! My neighbor kicked out his 15 year old daughter and told her to fend for herself!" I was stunned, I had never known a jw that did that, but then there were jws that had their own "standards" that did not agree with the official for the public knowledge version. He said he had taken her into his family's home and called social services to get this young woman help. I said I would do all I could to help since I worked with Child Services. I am sure that many and everyone he knew got the real picture about jws. Things worked out, they found a nice family for her and I ran interference with the jws from my official capacity. I was so embarrassed, one more step towards leaving the WTS for me.

It's true Blondie, my BIL (whose wife put him up to it) whose daughter got pregnant did the same. Later he contacted the branch and spoke with I guess, one of the lawyers, who advised him to bring her back home. She did come back and delivered a beautiful little girl. One her parents came to love. She later got an apartment and moved out, but at least she had the comfort of her old room while she waited for birth. I purchased baby clothes for her cause I did not care what anyone thought. Her mother and father came around as well, so it was a win win. She is not in the truth today nor is her daughter.

Given their experiences, do you blame them?

    NOT FORMER:

Good for them that they are not in the JW religion today.

I personally knew of two instances where Witness children were either told they had to leave home or their life was made so miserable that they were compelled to leave. Not sure if one or both had themselves legally emancipated. They both ended up fine.

This spoke volumes against the religion and made me grateful I was not raised in it. It just seemed to me back then that the religion was so arrogant and on its high horse. It just makes you wonder how many foolish JWs disowned their children years ago.đź‘Ž

Now, they are old and imagining the religion is going to care for them. HA! What a delusion. The hateful religion’s answer to this is to tell them to look up these thirty+ years estranged kids for assistance!

    Good luck with that.

We had a 16 year old young lady become pregnant in our congregation. She was not baptized, I think she had no intention of being a JW. She became pregnant by a neighbor, not a witness. Her dad was worldly, only her mom was a JW. This girl was treated TERRIBLY by the congregation, shunned, and not given a shower. I brought over a small gift after the baby was born. The girl left home soon after, leaving the baby with her mom. I left shortly afterwards, I don’t know the outcome. This baby is a grown woman now.

In those quotes from the Watchtower, they do seem a little bummed out that they're not allowed to kill apostates. I guess they just had to settle for being as mean as they could be within the law if the land. Kicking your 15-year-old daughter out of the house and into the streets would give you a pretty good chance of getting her killed or having her die young.

I guess I should mention that I can't think of anyone in congregation where I spent most of my time as a Jdub that would have approved of kicking a 15-year-old out of the house and into the streets, but I did meet Jdubs along the way that I think would have found it quite easy to do.
