Shunned twice today! How's it for you?

Here in Illinois, I never get shunned. The JWs even come to my door to talk to me, and I graciously respond ... with wit, humor, provacative questions, and unbeatable arguments ... and they keep coming back for more. If they only knew. However, Oregon is another matter. Were I there, I would be shunned about once or twice a month in my former home town.

We aren't df'd or da'd ................yet. They used to shun us, but lately they aren't. I know the CO blasted the elders for the way we are treated, so it seems to be getting better. I do know of two families who would shun us, no matter what, but we haven't run into them in years.

I haven't run into any Witnesses since I left, so I don't know if they see me first and run the other way or if we just don't go to the same places. Either way, it's fine with me!

I moved about 55 miles from the congregation I was assocated with before my disfellowshipping. For over a year as I would travel there to spend time with my son every other weekend there, I would run into JW occasionally. I never paid any attention to them, and acted like I had never seen them before. If they spoke to my son, I would stand away from them about 5 ft, and look at something else if we were in a store. No one ever spoke to him other than to say hi to him if we were out eating. I could tell from some of their faces they were terribly curious as to why I left my wonderful JW ministerial servant husband. But since they can never speak to them unless they break the rules, they will never know. So I just smile and ignore them, or treat them like a perfect stranger. They are far more uncomfortable than I am. I have nothing to be ashamed off, they do. I am free, they are imprisoned by choice. I did have a few of the JW's glare at me when they saw me with my son, but would always speak or say hi nicely to my son. I would simply smile at them. Shunning does not bother me in the least, I feel sorry for them, after all I have been in their shoes too.

In the town I live in now the JW don't know me and I don't know them. So I never give them any thought at all now. Just when I have to travel through the old town I lived in. So far in two years I haven't even had any come to my door. Have had Mormons come though.

I was shunned yesterday by a JW woman I knew for years. I saw her on the subway train, so I went over and started talking to her, asking how preparations for her upcoming wedding were going. She quickly darted out of the train at the next stop. LMAO!

And they say LOVE is the distinctive sign of their true religion.

    Never happens!!!

After about 5 moves, totaling ~3000 miles and 30 years, nobody local is aware of who or where I am. That is augmented by 4 different roommates answering the door over the last decade or so.

In fact, I have a Dub @ work "cozying up" to me. Ain't I blessed

Shunning has not happened to me in years...mostly because I am 2 hours away from our old congregation....Once in a while I will head up to my old stopping grounds for a good gathering or party and will run into one in a beer or liqour store..I think they are sooo shocked to see me, they have that look of a deer in the headlight look.....I just smile and say, "its been a while eh!"....so how about those Leafs???They always get the hell out of dodge before I make a JACKASS out of them....This time of year though, I would certainly wish them a MERRYCHRISTMAS....Christmas Tree
