I personally hold and believe that Russell's chronology is correct, he is right, they are God's dates, however the interpretation of what should have occurred on those dates were man's. So I agree with the quote.
Well, I certainly respect your right to believe as you wish, even though I disagree heartily with Russell's chronology. The question remains, though as to how you could have determined that the dates are God's dates, unless you had gotten that interpretation from Russell's writings. Belief in that particular chronology is unique among those who have been influenced by Russell's teachings. As far as I know, no one has ever come up with a similar chronology apart from some contact with Russell or his followers. What I'm getting at is this: the dates were part of Russell's teachings, and the interpretation of what should have occurred on those dates was part of Russell's teachings. How do you parse his teachings so as to determine what is from God and what is from man?
As to Rusell's teachingsd and writings being held in high regard over yours or mine? tell me, what have you written and publish? Thus far, over 2000 posts on this forum, many of which have substantial Biblical, religious and philosophical content. Does it matter whether I have published my writings in print format? Personally, I think that the majority of what I have written on this forum in many posts is more scripturally accurate than the vast body of Russell's work.
Besides, what I have or have not written is really irrelevant to the discussion. Your remark quoted above was a pretty obvious sidestep of my question. The point I was aiming at is that Russell's followers try to act like he was nothing special, just another fallible Christian, whenever his false prophecies and other failings are brought up. In fact, Russell and his works are still held in a high degree of reverence among the Bible Students, and he is regarded as having personally fulfilled Bible prophecy. You're trying to have it both ways, and it doesn't work any better for you than it does for the JW's. Anyone who is willing to be placed on a pedestal as a teacher - as Russell clearly was - must also stand accountable for what he teaches.
On a completely different note, RR, I was wondering what ever happened to that history of the Bible Students that you and others were working on a few years ago? I'd be very interested in getting a copy when it comes out.
