IF YOU DO MAKE ANY DERROGATORY ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT US, AT ALL, WE WILL SUE THE BODY OF ELDERS AS A GROUP, AND EACH OF YOU INDIVIDUALLY, FOR LIBEL AND SLANDER.

    2escapedlifers,

Great letter! Does this statement really work? I am trying to fade but it may come to this for me...Just wondering if that will stop an announcement from the platform?

So sorry about your family. Never give up hope.

Shamus is correct. You WILL be disassociated with or without your letter. You made a verbal statement in front of two witnesses that you no longer believe it to be the truth. That's all it took.

they plainly stated that they weren't there to change our minds, but to verify if what they had heard

Seems like a good christian WOULD try to change your mind. They spend countless hours teaching strangers their truths, yet one of their own......they "don't want to change your mind"

Good letter, but as everyone has said, they will see that as your letter saying you are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses. You said your baptism was null and void and that it was no longer the truth to you.

Hope you have a strong heart, soon you will be shunned like the rest of us.

    I agree with Mulan.

because we were honest in telling our parents, and now you, that we simply no longer believe Jehovah?s Witnesses have ?THE TRUTH?.

They'll view that as your DAing yourself. If you really mean what you say then it shouldn't bother you. Be strong and realise that the Watchtower is wobbling by the amount of people leaving. You'll find all the strength and encouragement you need right here. I, too, have lost family members who shun us - like so many others here.

Be happy in that you are free. Eventually you'll be amazed how much you'll settle down and relax. Let the Borg have the headache.

    Best wishes,

    Ian

You rock, guys. If you want to really get under the elders' skin, send copies of the letter to everyone in the congregation that you can think of. That way they can't make a simple statement like "they disassociated themselves" because everyone will know what REALLY was said in your letter.

    You have a PM.

    Love,

    Nina

Talked to my Mom this morning. She was lamenting the fact that we were breaking their hearts, because we were so "viciously angry", "attacking" and "threatening" and "fighting against" Jehovah's Organization. I pressed her for what on earth she was talking about, since she had never used these terms before, and finally found out that dad had told her about the letter. I thought this judicial stuff was supposed to be confidential!?!?!?!?

You already have a very serious case against them... they clearly violated your clergy privilege (you know... the one they are fighting soooo hard to protect so they can hide the pedophiles?).

I would have a lawyer send them a letter letting them know this.

Elsewhere has good point there about breaking the "clergy" privelege. I would think that attorneys who are fighting the child abuse cases would want to know that they use the clergy rule when they want, their reasoning shifts with the wind.

2escapedlifes, greetings. I read your interesting letter and I hope the elders don't interpret it another way. What I mean by that is, by you speaking against the organization, they can interpret it to be apostatical. For instance you said, "Whatever happened to exercising one's "Bible Trained Conscience" in making decisions rather (yes that 'rather' word) than policed conformance to the 'Governing Body's' current and latest interpretation of scripture." They can show you have a 'conflict' with the GB's interpretations. I'm viewing your letter as a former elder. I get your drift, but they may not.

You also said, "...for we have seen and experienced so much hypocrisy in this "ORGANIZATION" over the years." This is not going to sit well with them. One always has to avoid giving the elders ammunition, such ammunition will be used against you. To walk away is not the same as being considered an apostate to them. I hope they don't misinterpret your letter. I also hope I'm wrong, it would be a relief to me.

2 escaped lifers: Congratulations. I do hope in time this turns out better than you can expect with your family. Take care.

Guest 77, you wrote: "To walk away is not the same as being considered an apostate to them". Is there a practical difference? I was disfellowshipped as an apostate a long time ago, so I have no hint of the WT's present policy...
