Marilyn, maybe they aren't available in the US. They are a popular cereal here. Made by Post. I checked their website and they didn't mention them there.

They are finer in texture than mini wheats. Maybe some one else will know if they have another name in the US. I hope you can find them.

Over here they are corn chex, wheat chex, and rice chex. I don't know if there's a mixed one or not.

I know keeping your sugar intake low is one of the seven points in the Krech article but this one is too tasty not to share.

MistletoePeanut Butter Peanut Brittle(A softer alternative)Mistletoe

    2 cups sugar
    1/4 cup water
    1-1/2 cups light corn syrup
    2 cups salted peanuts
2 to 2-1/2 cups peanut butter
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1-1/2 tsp. baking soda

Combine sugar and water in heavy saucepan. Bring mixture to full rolling boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Stir in corn syrup. Cook to hard crack stage, 300 degrees.

Meanwhile, mix peanuts, peanut butter and vanilla. Remove syrup from heat; at once add peanut butter mixture and soda; stir. Working quickly, pour onto buttered cookie sheet; spread with fork. Cool; break into pieces.

    Yield:

About 3 pounds of creamy peanut brittle

    Seven,

That just looks delicious. My son loves peanut butter and would love this. I think I should make him some to celebrate the end of exams and indulge his sweet tooth.

I wonder if we should give these recipes to Lady Lee for her cookbooks?

Thanks for the receipes. I don't bake too much anymore, since all the kids are grown. If I bake it, I eat it and that is not good for me.

Here is a tip about marjarine. I just became totally aware of how bad this stuff is for you. The real thing, butter, is much more wholesome, much easier to digest, and helps other foods to digest. Did you know that the scientific receipe for marjarine is just one molecule away from plastic?! Yes, it's true. It's the hydroginated part that is harmful. Our government began producing this because they needed foods that would last longer during WWII. They came up with marjarine and also velveeta cheese. (Sorry, that's bad too!)

I've thrown out all my tubs and sticks of marjarine, and will now eat butter sparingly.

    Sentinal,

I have always suspected that butter is healthier than margarine. It most certainly tastes better, too.

Seven, glad you like them. I checked and the Shreddies have wheat in them so they must be the same as the wheat chex. Is that what you used?

    concerned mama,

Yes, I used the wheat chex. This recipe has a unique flavor. Could be I went heavy on the chipotle tabasco. :D These nuts and bolts are going to be a year round snack!!!

    Sentinel,

Margarine, one of our many "mystery foods" is for sure not good.
