This actually brings back wonderful memories for me. My folks were basicaly a sperm doner and an incubator, but mt grand parents were great.

My older brother and I spent every weekend we could with Nana & Grampy. On Saturday nights we would all sit in the parlor and watch Lawrence Welk. I remember the polka dancers and the big hair. My Nana would always make french fries for us. I can just smell the hot oil and taste the salty hot fries now. She would make hot chocolate too and we would spend the rest of the night listening to Grampy play the organ in the front room.

    God I miss those days.

Does anyone else remember the show where the girls wig went flying off into the audience??

LOL! And, since we have so many English friends present, let's talk about their diet! My livein and I were talking just last night about if we went to England, what would we live on? Beef Wellington? Fish and Chips? Yorkshire Pudding? I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE carbohydrates, but................................. just teasing...........actually, my boyfriend is proud of his English heritage.......he's a Winslow. I'm French and Native American, with a bit of English stirred in............Crowe, so we have some hot times.........maybe we'll start another war!?

Lawrence Welk was way before my time, but my great-grandma (I miss her so much) used to watch it. She and I used to stay up late watching TV and this was one of the shows she watched (reruns, of course)

Even now, sometimes if it's on, I'll just leave it on because it reminds me of those times. I find its very corniness sort of.....nostalgic, soothing? It kinds of calms my nerves.....or something.

I don't know what I'm saying, but sometimes I get sick of the other crap on TV.

Razor, perhaps elements within the shows make you think of simpler, more uncomplicated times.........?

Yes... I remember the Lawrence Welk show. The Lennon Sisters... Bobbie and... who was it??? Sissy? *barf* Ahh one, and a two...

The Wonderful World of Disney - in Living Color! - which we couldn't see on a black and white TV.

GunSmoke!! - brought to you by... Lucky Strike... or was it Marlboro? Some ciggy ads. People were allowed to see ads for cigarettes back then. It always looked soooo cool to see these seemingly happy people inhale, and then exhale a lot of cigarette smoke. *wheeze* *cough* *cough*

Did ya ever wonder why Miss Kitty was sooooo respected in that series... even tho she was a hooker? I did. (Well, maybe not till later.)

Ya remember Matt Dillon's first side-kick? Chester? (Dennis Weaver) Almost ruined Dennis Weaver's career... everyone thought he really had a limp. *grin*

Bonanza - with Adam Cartwright - before he left the series. Hoss, Little Joe and Big Daddy Cartwright. Every time they got interested in gals... the gals got killed. Hmmm... I think that any gal with sense would hi-tail it outta there if she got wind of their 'track record' with wimmen.

Twilight Zone... which I was too young to understand, but it scared the bejeebies outta me... well... some of them did... (Gremlins on the wing!!!)

I Love Lucy - *gag* I had to watch that show one summer when I was in the hospital. I think I saw every Lucy show ever aired... that summer!

Palladin - I thought he was really cool... wore lots of black leather. don't remember the plot line

The Lone Ranger - with a poor sap Indian Tonto who had to do all the hard work whilst Keemosabie (sp?) got the glory - HiiiYooo Silver!!!

The Rifleman - about a man who went around shooting everyone with a rifle - even tho he didn't really want to... so it made it okay that he did. And the drunken sheriff, that Chuck Conners (aka The Rifleman) had to sober up every once in a while (Get a grip on yourself, man!).

Yeah... I remember many shows waaay back then.

    Regards,

    Jim TX
