What Ways Did You Rebel Against The Elders & The "Truth"?

It's easy to piss off the elders by trying to break a rule, especially when it comes to grooming and attire. I used to wear LOGO tee-shirts after the convention and walk all over the hotel area and get raised eyebrows wondering how I could wear anything but a suit and tie after the sessions. Remember, the "SLAVE" said, that is unbecoming dress for a mature one.

I threw a party at a bar where my band and three other JW bands played at.

    Sent flyers to 120+ people.

I got a few calls from concerned parents, but parents let their kids come as i was repsected in the area.

Afterwards, the CO busted a nut when he heard of it from surrounding congregations from parents whose kids were invited

Not knowing who threw the party, he proceeded to bring it up at our congregation during our elder and MS meeting. I was sweating, because none of the elders were fessing up to who it was that threw the party. They would tell of some of the details to the CO, but they never said it was me.

I was getting some looks during that meeting from some of the other MS's that were there.

Afterwards, two elders met with me to tell me why it was bad that I threw a party at a bar.

It basicly came down to that it was a flyer invitation and that there weren't proper chaperones, even though i rented a cop to be there to make sure that there wasn't underage drinking.

I concluded the meeting with them saying that next time I have the party, i'll do a direct invite, and that I'll ask for those two elders help in chaperoning the party.

They didn't care for that, but since I tied up their complaints about the event, they couldn't say no.

Min, I guess that was the only point that i was really in the face of the elders. I knew they wouldn't attend, but I threw it in their face anyways.

Besdies that though, I did the whole party thinking that it was ok and that there was nothing wrong with it.

I heard about what a great time people had at that party for years after. It was a blast!

Other things were usually about dress and grooming...

Dyed my hair red while I was a Reg Pio and a MS. Got some looks in service

    Crazy bleached hair

    Hair too long

    Hair too spikey

    2 door car for service

One elder proceeded to tell me I had 'BA'

    "BO?"

    "No, BA."

    "What are you talking about?"

    "You have Bad Attitude!"

I think the only thing he heard after that was the sound of my eyeballs rolling into the back of my head.

TATTOOS are another thing that got people in trouble. I know of a sister that was counseled by the elders-----she was in her late 50's at the time---- for tattooing her eyebrows. A number of young ones got "secret" tattoos. My daughter was one of them.

When I was in High School I ''scored" with a cheerleader - ON AN ELDERS COUCH!!!! Tee hee

How? Well I was friends with the elders son. He and I had a pact of sorts. He was 21 and I was 17. We would party together so there was no problem getting out of the house. He covered for me and vice versa. Well anyway, he knew me and this cheerleader girl we getting along. He told me his parents were out of town that night and whaddayaknow!

(I think that deserves first place)

Went to college. Got my tongue pierced. Partied hard and didn't deny it or feel bad about it.

After district conventions were always my favorite time. They were always in July and my best friend and I were always getting dirty looks for the way we dressed. The last year I attended a DC we got a hotel room and invited some good witness boys over to hang out with us. Little did we know an elder from our cong was a few rooms down. Boy did we catch hell for that.

I think the thing that always frustrated them the most was that I never once apologized or "repented" for anything I did.

Tina- you know getting your tongue pierced is a no-no.

Oh I know because a little hole in my tongue makes me a bad person!

The elders read me all the "excessive adornment" scriptures. And then I simply asked where in the bible it says that ear piercings are the exception to that rule?

I got every young person in my hall to start listening to Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Metallica, Pantera, and AC/DC. then i started taking them to concerts. About a year ago I burned a big fattie infront of a MS.

Tina, I'm surprised the elders didn't ask you if you knew why many people in the "world" have their tongues pierced.

Surprisingly they didn't. But my poor mom did. LOL She didn't like my answer.
