The Watchtower objects to this because it is their direct competition. They are a jealous god-head that wants to have the market cornered on selling fantacies for a profit.

    Joanna,

No in all seriousness. I think the article is objecting to the notion of hiding toys or santa myths because they are fantasy. Don't you remember their whole line about how lying to children damages their psyche.

Thanks for pointing that out. Most childrens entertainment is based around fantasy and "pretending". If they pick up play-dough they pretend that what they make is alive, or is something else than just play-dough. The watchtower are very messed up to suggest that kids "fantasy" should be avoided if not 100% factually true (imagination involves the unreal and fantastic, so how could a child even have an imagination in the WT?)

IMO, telling a child that Santa brought gifts is just the same thing as telling a child that God gave them their nice bed to sleep in.

Someone once told me that the definition of puritanism is the absolute and abject terror that somewhere sometime someone might be enjoying themselves.

I think the dubs have this one down.

Merry Christmas to all you fellow pagans!!!

    Gretchen
