I really loved your analysis JB, it was fascinating! I also really appreciated Guest's rich comments, full of wisdom. I am really getting such a great perspective reading posts like these...........I am a history buff, even when I was a JDub, it took the form of reading up on the Watchtower History. When the Proclaimers book came out, it was like Mannah from heaven for me.............I had been hoping that they would publish something updated, since the 1975 Yearbook. Thanks again for sharing that..........

I think mine was the last generation of kids to be treated badly in school for not saying the pledge of allegiance or going to the holiday parties.

Must disagree there, joelbear. I was born in 77, so I was a Franz baby, and it was tough. Got beat up. Pissed on. that kind of thing.

Although, I must agree with your theory that things have lightened up considerably, in terms of what's allowed or tolerated, especially in certain people like celebrities.

Used to be that a hockey player who gave up his career to become a witness was the big news. Now the williams sisters kick ass and still are tolerated.

Ah, more hypocrisy. what did you expect?

I would venture a guess that there are vastly different standards for the Williams sisters & for those that bring money or attention to the watchtower.

Hey Joel, good to see you!

For the most part - a very fine synopsis of JWism.

But the disagreement areas are valid - and I agree with them too.

    1. It depends upon where you live. I live in SC - kids are *allowed* to go to a community college for a two year program .....some of them. Other than that - there is flack and backlash against them & their parents.

    2. The Williams Sisters and Prince? Lol - what are the jw's going to DO against them? The Public Relations problem would be a nightmare - and perhaps litigation resulting. DO? Accept them & their money.

My elder bil almost broke a blood vessel when I brought to his attention that the above celebrities are JW's (in front of his children). He was adament - "in name only." If they were REAL jw's - they'd look & act like real jw's, now wouldn't they?

    3. Missed you!

    Hey Joel old buddy!

Drop me an email sometime. ([email protected])

You know, when you talk about the old-timer Witnesses, well you and I know some of the same people. I've got a lot more respect for the generations of Witnesses who saw the Great Depression and lived thru WW2 than the ones now. I'd rather have Drexel Weeks or Eddie Williams as elders if I were a Witness than the current crop of dumbasses herding the flock.

    Mike.
