ic wut you r talking about....wuuuuuuuuuuts up!

Yes, the kids tent to do this alot I noticed....I do try to be correct myself, in punctuation but my spelling is atrocious (sp) as well...I am fairly new to the computer, so I donnot even know if there is a spell check on my computer....I do believe it is our job as the parents to make sure the kids are using and writing the correct way on the computer...I mean we did not have these things when we went to school, right? It seems to me, that the kids are using the computer way more then actually writing, so their penmenship (sp) is the pits....

I do believe it is more the younger ones that type this way...I think it is just pure lazyness....Just my 2 cents Witchy

    littlewitch,

You are cracking me up, over here! That first post of yours was right on the money! I've spotted that sort of thing numerous times and, quite frankly, I pretty much ignore it if it is so dificult to decipher. Good deal on insisting that your children do not write/speak that way.

You know what the sad part is? It took me 30 minutes to write my opening comment! I really had to think about it. My daughter could have written something similar in 30 seconds!

Where to begin with the criticism...hmmmmmmm......

    Numbers used as adjectives

    Lack of punctuation

    No capitalization

    Run-on sentences

scary stuff I tell you, and they understand it so well! I must be getting old. Now I know how aggrieved my parents and teachers got when we used Pig Latin!

I send a lot of text messages from mobile phones so I use a lot of things like that because I can only fit my message into 160 characters, theres a whole new dictionary of abreviations been made. I can write things out no problem, but if I'm making a note for myself then I use the abbreviations.

If people realized that "1337" speak just makes them look ignorant then maybe it wouldn't be such a problem. Of course ift ehy learned to type properly then it wouldn't be so painful for them to string together complete sentences. I learned very early on on message boards that the way to be taken seriously was to type out messages properly. Unfortunately I'm quite adept at reading it from having to decipher others' messages. I'm always ragging on my father to learn to punctuate properly, who says bad typing is just for the teenage crowd.
