Afterer watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy, I hope Peter Jackson goes on ahaed and produce a movie of The Hobbit. Fortunately, he seems to be interested!

    Jackson keen on Hobbit movie

Lord Of The Rings director Peter Jackson is interested in making JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit.

Referring to LOTR production company New Line Cinema, Jackson said: "Certainly, if they want to talk to me about it, I'd be keen. It would be wonderful to complete the set of films."

However, it all depends on whether the studio can gain the rights to Tolkien's story.

My thoughts/feelings exactly! TTT was fine 'til about halfway, with only minor deviations from the book - poetic license, as you'd expect. But from the point where they left Edoras, the screenplay writers went completely mad!! My theory is that the afternoon shift came in, couldn't find the book, and just wrote something anyway. Whatever it was, it bore no resemblance to Prof. T's work!

If Jackson gets his claws into yet another Tolkien work, could it happen all over again??

There's another Tolkien book I'd like to see come to the big screen, if properly done: Farmer Giles of Ham. In reality the "reduced salt" version of The Hobbit, it nonetheless is an enjoyable story and has enough mediaeval-style swashbuckling in it to make it a worthwhile film.

I would like to see them attempt the Hobbit . I don't think they have to go to a major motion picture with it tho . I have seen the Hobbit cartoon before , it was pretty good . The Hobbit I think can be done in a 2 hr. format unlike the 3 hrs apiece for the lord of the rings .

No, no, no. What is it with Hollywood wanting more, more, more?! I hope they leave the Trilogy as is. We all witnessed the Star Wars fiasco. Just let this new classic be a classic. Leave well enough alone.

Unlike the Star Wars crap (good at first but getting crappier - more a vehicle for special effects than an actual story, these days), they're not making it up as they go along; they've got a template to follow in Prof T's work. The Hobbit forms the foundation upon which LOTR was built and is a damned fine story in its own right, with plenty to lend itself to a film adaptation. But please, please, please, pleeeeeeeease don't let Peter Jackson and his cut-throat screenplay writers anywhere near it!!

i think it would be a cold day in hell before they even understood the langage of the silmarillion, let alone try to transpose it onto screen in a manner than the general public undersand!

what did anyone think of return of the king?

I was sure I watched a Hobbit movie years back in class. Maybe it was a cartoon but I hadn't thought it was. Memory is fading I guess. I personally like the Hobbit (book) at lot more than the LOTR (books) so a movie would be good. But then I haven't had a chance to see the LOTR movies yet them being evil and all...

Well, billygoat, I don't think that this would turn out like the SW prequels because 1) the screenplay would be based off an already well-known story & 2) a Hobbit movie would be made fairly close to the LOTR trilogy movies.
