I love to read, but I also love to write. I mostly read fantasy/Sci-Fi, but I write poetry. I also just wrote a childrens book, and have to finish the illustrations before I try to get it published. What I appreciate most in my life are my friends and family, who have seen me through good and bad. Right now I live with my friend Sylvia, who I call my "Jewish Mother". She is about 20 years older than me, but she is young at heart, and she took me in when I had no where else to go. She is an extraordinary woman, full of life and faith, and she makes sure that I feel loved every day. She makes sure I eat my veggies, but also gives me a glass of wine before bed every night. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met, and she encourages me to write, to dream, and to be happy no matter what. I love my hobbies, but they seem so small compared to spending time with my Sylvia.
so WHAT ?

Frannie Banannie
Frenchbabyface, I love to crochet sweaters and baby garments that I design myself. I don't create them to sell. I just love to do it for family members and sometimes a friend, and people have driven over from Louisiana to pick up a baby tuxedo I've designed. This is something I haven't done for quite a while, but it IS something I love to do. Thanks for reminding me....I'm going out today to get some threads to begin a new project.
I also enjoy doing portraits in pastels....I've been doing this since I was a kid and can do a very good likeness even from a photo.
There's a true feeling of accomplishment when I finish a garment I've designed and crocheted or a portrait in pastels.

Ho Frannie that's cute !!! crochet and design baby garnements ... Well you remind me I've tried twice for my own baby before he was born (I've quiet messed up) but still was proud of myself ... what I've most like was touching it I mean it got a kind of texture depends on the type of crochet curls and also the wool ...Portraits in pastel is nice and kind of romantic ... ENJOY Frannie !!!

Great thread!
I love all different types of things--I guess I could be called quirky.....
Things like blue glass--I love to hold blue glass objects up to the light and get lost in the color. Same for houses decorated in all-blue lights for Christmas; if I had a house, I'd decorate the outside with all-blue lights for Xmas and just sit in the yard in a lawn chair of a night, just enjoying the beauty.
I love rural/country areas. I wish I lived in a forest. Its so depressing not being able to really experience springtime unfold, to see fall & winter arrive with their distinct smells and temps. Experiencing the seasons here in the city just ain't the same. There's just nothing pretty enough in the city where I live that compares to a fresh, deep snowfall in a forest, at night, with the moon shining. I'd LOVE to visit a prairie and also to go up north to the Arctic areas someday, just to experience the beauty.
I love old things, too. Like antiques, vintage cars, going to a farm where they still draw water out of a well, keep chickens, milk cows, and sew on a pedal sewing machine. Same goes for homey crafts like making quilts (ALWAYS wanted to do that) crocheting & knitting (in which I dabble a bit)
Mind you, I don't actually DO any of the above things (well, the blue glass and a little needlecraft) but these are things I love and envision myself experiencing a little more in full someday, than what I do now.
I love to read--first and foremost of my likes/dislikes--and I love art and music. And fashion history--LOVE IT!!! I'd say reading is my main hobby.
Thanks for letting us to share these things with you!

I think I'm a bit like several who have posted on this thread!
Like Country Girl, I have so many interests, that I am passionate about whatever project I happen to be working on at the time. And while I'm working away on one project, I'm dreaming of 20 others - some in progress, some in the future! I love designing and creating home decorating projects, and like Maverick, enjoy landscaping and landscape design. I also spend a great deal of time nurturing my 50+ houseplants and far too much time on the computer! I enjoy doing research - I do background investigations and skip tracing for a living, but I also love learning about new subjects, especially in the political and religious arenas. I suppose that is one reason I come here - to learn more about my mother's wacky religion. I also love skiing, backpacking, camping, water skiing, playing piano, reading mystery novels and listening to country music and talk radio. Mostly though, I love spending time with my family doing just "family" things like attending my son's sports games, reading stories and cuddling with my son before he goes to sleep, and having extended family members over for a bbq (like FBF!) and a swim in the pool. Like Morty, though, mostly I just like being me, and I am quite content with my life just the way it is.

got my forty homey?
Here's a couple of pictures of me walking in the hills of Orange County New York on a abandoned farm with my German Shepard "Sargent".
