Thanks for the welcome. As for your question big tex, it was really difficult making my first post. The easiest part was clicking the submit button. The best part is getting all the wonderfull responses.

    Welcome Greatcrowd,

I have slowly overcome the fear of been found out. At present I don?t care anymore and I will attribute it partly to the encouragement I found on this board and the healing nature of time

My wife and I lived in fear for a time. It was miserable. We got DF'd for apostacy about ten months ago and although it caused problems with family, it has been the best thing overall. We are free and not looking over our shoulder any more. Living in 'fear of being found out' is a terrible way to live. Glad you are past it, and glad you are finally posting.

Hello Greatcrowd! I'd be interested in hearing any stories of being a Witness in Nigeria if you were one. Even if you weren't a Witness there I'd be interested in stories of Nigeria. I've always been interested in Africa. I watch way too much Discovery Channel especially if it shows regarding Africa or Asia. Don't worry about posting here. As long as you keep identifying information to yourself you should be fine.

Welcome aboard and I look forward to hearing more from you. Putting yourself out there sometimes takes a great deal of courage.

    Hi Greatcrowd!

Welcome to the board! I, too mostly lurk but seldom post. Just like you, I feel a rapport with the people who post on this board. I am sad when some of the posters here feel down and I "rejoice and cry out joyfully" {Watchtower-ism, sorry} when people here are happy. All of us lurkers should post more so that people on this board can get to know us as well as we know them. I look forward to hearing more from you!

    Again, WELCOME!!

I was a witness in Nigeria and while it was fun when I was still caught up in it. A number of things made me leave with the most important being the blood doctrine. The consequence of abstaining from blood in Nigeria is far more than you get in the US. The so called alternatives were not available to the average witness and with people having to pay out of pocket for medical expenses, obeying this rule was like a death sentence.

It amazed me to see the one sided testimonies in the magazines of those who came out alive and the underreporting of pathetic cases that existed elsewhere. The ones that died and were reported in the Awake usually would have died anyway of cancer or other incurable disease which makes it look less of matyrdom. Doesnt it look unusual that a magazine that devotes much space reporting experiences from Africa devote more time reporting experiences of blood from the US or Europe.

Visit to the branch offfice in Nigeria did not solve the problem and I found the explanation unsatisfactory. This coupled with a shameful and touching experience of a witness dying in the hospital where I had my medical training made me to start the process of quiting.

    (((Great Crowd)))

congratulations on taking that step! you've obviously already benefited from the site ... but that won't compare to the friendly welcome and overall tolerant support found here...

I only found the site a month ago myself, and it has been helpful to me already. :o)
