How safe is that? She is 25 yrs old and went out there for 2 weeks with a friend who decided while there to go to Philadelphia for a job interview and told her "see you back in England"....

Now she is alone for the new year up until the 5th of January (her flight isnt until 5th) 5 mins away from Time Square, dont know anyone and quite afraid to leave her hotel room after 5pm.

What should have been a great time has turned a little lonely, with friends like hers who needs enemies huh

Is anyone here partying around near by?

Boy does that suck! What was supposed to be a fun trip is in danger of being ruined. I can sympathize...I'm kinda chicken myself about being in a strange place alone...to say nothing of Times Square!

I hope some who knows NYC can give some advice!

Me too, I wouldnt have let the friend go without me if I was her but she is too polite to protest. Is NY on red alert over the new year?

Maybe she can go to 25 Columbia Heights in the Brooklyn Heights area... here she will find the world headquarters of the official organization for the gawd of love. Given that they do represent a gawd of love, they should be more than happy to help her out!

Well Brummie the map says we have 6 people in New York State. I think a couple of them are in NYC. Maybe they will pop in and offer to help

Not sure if they are close or able but it might be nice if one could drop in and offer some info at least for her safety

Brummie, I would recommend she take in Times Square tomorrow night. New Year's Eve in New York in a fabulous sight to behold. I wish I could be there! Tell her to go out and see the sights during the day and watch movies in her hotel at night. New York is a really cool city. It's probably a bit safer than Detroit and I walked around by myself all the time there. She should keep her chin up, walk briskly and determindely, and keep anything of value off of her person. She should be fine.

LL, as far as I can remember Leslie is not in the New York City vicinity. Let's hope some of the others, if they live in the area, see this and can offer suggestions.

    That's just wrong!

I'm sure she'll be ok, but I feel sorry for her. What a horrible thing to be stranded all alone. It turned this trip into a nightmare, huh?
