Are you saying that there aren't any ex-JW posters on JWD that are jackasses on occasion, min?

Most JW's that come to this site already have some doubts/questions. The defensive attitude toward their beliefs is IMO their conscience trying to dispel their doubts.

this has always been my view, the MERE fact that they are here is a sign that they are on their way out regardless of whether they defend wt or not, they have already demostrated that the FDS don't tell them what to do any half brain dead jw knows that to come here with apostates is according the the wt a direct violation of jah will- in fact some poster will say: i ain't really talking DIRECTLY to apostates, and if i know they are DFed i don't respond to any of their post, it is this type of MENTAL GYMNASTIC THAT SHOWS any first year psych student that THIS PERSON HAS PUT UP THEIR DEFENSE SYSTEM i truly feel that some poster over react when a jw newbie comes here and says WE HAVE THE TRUTH COME BACK what do we expect them to say smile

...........especially if someone comes here to tell us why we're wrong in our thinking??? The Word of God is Alive and powerful and is sharper than any two edged sword --- we just show them scriptures that are in the NWT that are just not open to interpretaion -- my personal favorite as many know by now -- is the Parable of the Prodigal Son -- then compare with the reinstatement procedure of the WTBTS -- and show without equivocation that the Society is ANTI-SCRIPTURAL -- not just unscriptural. If they do not want to hear or see -- shake the dust off our feet - it really should be as simple as that. There are other examples but I will leave it at that. Remember if they are from God (which they are not) we will fail and be found fighting against God. If they are not from God they will eventaully fade. If they are fighting against God (which I believe) then the WTBTS is in fact The Evil Slave

Lady Lee, even if the JW posters are jackasses???

    Actually Min YES

Even jackasses deserve to be respected. How else will you ever be able to help them learn not to be jackasses?

Abusive people on the other hand need to be moderated. And no I don't think jackasses and abusers are necessarily the same. They might be but then they might not be either.

People like You Know who want to defend their WTS position actually do us a favor.

    • They remind us of the things we are free of and why we would never go back.
    • They show lurkers and non-JWs just how ludicrous their beliefs are.
    • They serve as a warning to those who are thinking of getting involved that this is not a healthy religion to get involved in.

Hate the org. Hate the policies. Be angry at an organization that manipulates and control people. Rage away at an organization masquerading at as a religion that DFs people and separates families. Scream and yell about policies that protect abusers and punish the victims and others who seek protection, justice and love. Let everyone know about the betrayal and duplicity of an organization that makes policy based on money instead of Christian love.

But please have some compassion for those who are still trapped. Devon makes an excellent point. You never know what lurks behind a person's convictions. Maybe - just maybe they really want someone to help them be convinced they are in something not healthy.

"what do you expect them to say"?

I expect them to be honest. I expect them to step out of the box.

(assuming they realize this is not a pro-jw site).

I expect them to treat people with respect, honesty, and concern.

Which is what I try to do with them.

I expect them to treat us like they would a "brother or sister" and not satans tools of deception.

To be honest, this scenerio doesnt happen often here. Most new ones, no matter their level of "outness" are pretty cool and easy to get along with.

I feel that most who come looking realize what kind of site they are at, and are not scared like rabbits of honest opinion and debate. I think it is refreshing to them to talk it out. If they were looking for platitudes and redundancy, they wouldnt venture from their saftey zone. They know when something doesnt make sense, and needs investigation.

Another thing is, with so many differing personalities here, anyone with a real interest can quickly find someone to relate to. Perhaps not everyone (such is life) but many will relate.

Not everyone here sees eye to eye on every subject. I think that is a good thing. We have all had a belly full of the unity or else BS.

The vast majority of us here know when to be compationate and when someone needs confrontation, when to give a quote, and when to ignore. That is the beauty and the success of JWD.

Visitors who are serious find out quickly that Lee is the voice of compation, Minimus makes you think and gives you opportunity to opine,Blondie gives it straight from the hip with backup,Frannie will crack you up, and so forth.

I think visitors find us a positive experience. I havent seen too many running away with their tails between their legs, unless they were hit and run types to begin with, in such cases no big loss.

I don't think that most who come here as SINCERE JWs to ARGUE.. aren't going to listen to anything you have to say..

when I first came here (not as a lurker looking for apostates infiltrating JW boards) but when I came here for "ME".. I came here because I had stopped going to the hall and although I didn't come to here to learn why JWs were wrong, because I thought they weren't, but that I just was putting my life in order to die because I wasn't going to be one, but I came here to keep companionship I was losing by stopping being a JW. The last thing I still wanted to read was why the JWs were not the true religion... what touched me was the other threads.. not the total fluff threads although I enjoyed them a lot.. but the small ones, ones that might seem unimportant but where people talked about their feelings when being a JW. I can't tell you how much a connection I immediately felt with the others here. They understood things about myself that maybe in some ways I hadn't even admitted out loud.. then it gave me time after a while to relect and sit back and think WAIT.. this isn't right? this isn't love? this isn't the mark Jesus said his followers would have.. and THEN.. much later I began to feel ready to read about doctrines..

so never think that you have no effect in the threads talking about feelings, about things that are not directly saying the JWs are not right but instead touches on those things that are from being a JW.. that was how you all got me subtly.. and after that my eyes were ready to really be opened.

My opinion: If someone comes on this site to speak glowingly of JWs, they are either totally misled or are purposely trying to rouse the "apostates". I don't think that if a JW comes here, it's because they have an issue about the "truth". I think some come here as indestructible "apostate busters", in their own minds. some feel they'll show this group a thing or two. Unless they are truly open to examination of JW beliefs, they will only come here to prove their point.

Agreed Min some think they are immune to "Satan's attacks" and come here to prove a point. But if we attack them then we are proving the WTS point about us being out of control and past all moral sense.

As I said earlier I have no desire to prove the WTS right about those who have left.

I have to wonder sometimes if my ex has been here and read some of the "glowing" reports I have given of him. Would some of what I post about him as an abuser prevent him from ever really hearing the real truth? Would what I post push him closer to leaving or closer to the org?

I won't stop speaking my truth. But I do wonder.
