Well, "hats off" to whoever did that listing on EBay..... The essential thing in the EBay listing is the MESSAGE. A clever way to "advertise advertise advertise" if you get my meaning.......

Picture a dubbie encountering that listing and then checking out further: doing a Google search on "NGO" and "Jehovah's Witnesses"....he'll get pointed to LOTS of pages with more on this issue....

No way that auction is a serious one, IMHO......

LMAO... I saw that the other day while looking for some other WT stuff.

I could not believe someone would ask $1000 for info that you can get from the UN by just writing a letter.

As was said before... a sucker is born every minute.

If i thought I could show it to my J.W. relatives and that they would leave the religion over it..

    Yes...

    But, ALAS...

most of my relatives don't believe the contradictory information printed in the Watchtowers own publications... so.. why would this make any difference...

They'd just say.. FDS made a mistake... and then received new lights and then got out of the UN..

I guess I'm just not optomistic that this report would do ME and good with MY relatives...

    sincerely

excellent point, ANYONE WHO THINKS that Proof, facts, evidence, documentation will convince a person in a high control group, know very little about the effect that they have on their believers

while it may convince some- the facts show that for the masses it will not-

$1000 is a little to much for me to buy for the purpose of convincing a jw of anything

there is too much FREE INFO-

if a jw would not read the free info and there is a ton of it to keep one reading for 2months- i hardly think seeing the WT listed in a Phone directory is going to make a lot of difference

for those of us who have dealt with the mindset of JW- we know better than to spend that type of money on such a publication-

    just my 2

I think dannyboy's onto something. No-one would pay $1000 for that; it's essentially an ad that will stay up a long time. It's also an ad a Dub would read to prove to themselves, and possibly others, how morally bankrupt and motivated by gain apostates are. IOW it would slip past normal Dub defences and get them reading "apostate" information.

Perhaps this is the new way forward for getting the word out to Dubs.

Who knows? Maybe someone will make $1000 when a WT official learns of the listing!

Guys -- I agree with JT -- Witnesses will just take the information and say it was okay for the society to be a part on the UN -- one person told me it is like Paul making reference to using the world but not using it to the full( Of course why use something which is against God's purpose) -- the funny thing is -- we will all be accountable before God. I keep telling people the religious leaders lost favor before God because they added to the law -- It is not for me to judge I will see what happens when judgment day comes( I realize some may not not believe in a judgement day, but I still see the bible as being very real will live by it) -- this is just my two cent. As I have learned in my critical thinking class people will not think for themselves -- they would rather let other people tell them what to do. Also people like to feel like they belong -- therefore sometimes they will just shut their eyes to things which are not right and keep there mouth shut.

The EBay seller offering the "$1,000" item above has several dozen other JW related items for sale, with catchy "Item Titles", mostly books (pricing looked more usual, if you will, than the NGO thing).

Here's a few of the "catchy" item titles describing stuff this guy is selling: (spelling and formatting by him)

WATCHTOWER Caught Sleeping With The U.eN.emy (discussed above)

WHY JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES LIE IN COURT (Selling a Bergman book)

WATCHTOWER EXPOSED By Governing Body Member (Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz)

So a search on EBay for "Watchtower" yields 243 items from various sellers, "Jehovah" yields72. (many items are "service supplies" type stuff, but there's lots of stuff like the above)

Personally, I think it's great that Witnesses poking around EBay could be exposed to the ideas in these Item Titles (and in the greater-length descriptions)...like planting a seed.

    Every little bit helps, eh?

    My two cents.
