when so they play the broadcast? I've never heard of a hall doing that. I'm imagining on a Saturday after service or something

I don't think a Jonestown is on the cards, the guys who actually run the Scam want it to continue, it maintains their life-style, that they would not be able to aspire to if they had to operate in the real world.
They without doubt have gone down the route of more control, and the JW TV is an excellent way of controlling.
Just expect more of the urging to "work harder, give more, work harder", and more instilling of fear of anything that may lead to an enlightenment for the mind of the poor, mentally imprisoned J.W.

They won't kill anyone off in a Jonestown manner. What they can do is get even more bat-shit crazy after Warwick is completed. They can weed out the weaklings of the flock, especially since they are going paperless.
The US and UK dubs may dwindle, but there are plenty of other poor saps in South America and Africa to steal from.
Those countries are still learning how evil "false religion" is. Jwism seems great when you make $1 a day.

Yeah, the only way we get a jonestown type thing is if the GB manages to get themselves in a really tight spot and can't see any way out other than suicide. I can see that happening at some point, but probably not for several decades. If all the money runs out though, I wouldn't put it past 'em. -

It is supposed to be for those in the cong that do not have internet. There was a BOE letter that came out suggesting to either have a once a month showing of the broadcast at the hall or to invite these ones to the friends' homes (with internet) to watch it . Since nobody wanted all these crazies at their house, the body chose to have a showing at the hall.
Like there isn't enough to do already. It shows though how much they want everybody watching the official broadcast. It wouldn't surprise me if it started getting incorporated into the meetings.

For the record I haven't watched a broadcast yet. I just can't stomach it. I passed through one of the hall broadcasts and my blood pressure shot up at the sound of tony turd's voice. Something about "well who is dropping these kids off at university?" like university students are 10 years old. I got out of there.

The comments are downright dangerous and misleading!

It is simply the propaganda machinery at work. Serves a dual purpose;
- the narcissistic GB gives itself airtime to promote their antiquated ideas (ironic considering the mediums now employed for delivery). Having a platform that they control for these broadcasts shields them from backlash and criticism. Imagine if they broadcast that content on a platform like YouTube or Vimeo where viewers can comment.
- they org has found yet another means to infiltrate the lives of its adherents. Who knows how long will it be before they unofficially imply that their channel is the only acceptable media for a JW to be in good standing?
