I used to study with Jehovah's Witnesses and understand they do not pray to Jesus. However, me and a friend are debating this. He said that Jehovah's Witnesses don't pray to Jesus but do talk to him (which I've never heard before). He said there's a difference in praying and speaking but I can not see any difference. If Jehovah's Witnesses do not PRAY to Jesus, they don't SPEAK to Jesus; correct?

    Thanks.

No they don't. Up until around 1950 they used to teach it was appropriate to worship Jesus but now say it is wrong.

Nobody on Earth, right now talks to Jesus, and he definitely doesn't talk back, either. Jehovahs Witnesses, do beleive in Jesus, and say he was a form of their ransom, some of JW's beliefs about Jesus, are questionable, though, but ANY beliefs in Jesus can be questioned. Also JW's pray to Jehovah only, but in Jesus name, at the end of their prayers. They do NOT pray directly to Jesus. Many of JW's teachings concerning Jesus, and worshipping him, like Listener said above, have changed drastically over the years.

While they do "beleive" in Jesus, and that he is a ransom, in recent years, JW's adoration and feelings for Jesus have become less and less, while MORE reverance is given to Jehovah, AND the Governing Body, even more than Jesus himself. Some even say, that many Elders in the JW congregations, are more revered than even Jesus, himself. But, lastly, NO Jehovahs witnesses, or any other humans now on Earth, speak with Jesus.

Kiana, they superficially speak to Jehovah in their prayers and Jesus is given a token mention at the end of the prayer. Outside of their prayers they occasionally talk about Jesus but do not direct their attention to him. Jesus is basically a cardboard figure to them.

I should also add that the Watchtower denies that Jesus's ransom was meant for humanity in general including the Great Crowd but is limited to the "anointed" amongst them.

They also state that the last supper - the Memorial - is only for the "anointed" and not for the rest. So you basically have a religion that excludes the vast majority of its members from Jesus's blessings (Disclaimer: I'm not a believer myself).

Hi all thanks. Just as I thought.

But, talking to Jesus in the Spirit realm and listening in the spirit realm (not to a literal voice, but to the silent inner voice of the Lord) is praying, and I can't understand why he (my friend) states there is a difference between communicating in the spirit realm and prayer?

Nevertheless, he swears that Jehovah's Witnesses don't pray to Jesus but do talk to Jesus all the time. He is clearly wrong, yes?

What say the Jehovah's Witnesses here?

The Witnesses don't pray to Jesus. Their channel to God is the WBTS, it seems.

I've never known a JW to talk to Jesus. They are so devoted to Jehovah that it is to him alone they would ever talk or pray. Not that they would not be allowed to talk to Jesus, they just don't.

Prayer is generally considered an request of a deity with the concept of worship, so Jehovah's witnesses refer to speaking and not praying the Jesus. Even when Stephen prayed to Jesus is Acts 7:59, the NWT changes the word from "prayed" to "appealed." See http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/worship-jesus.php.
