The worries were about an A Q attack and not really connected with Iraq.

Yes, because now the government knows what everyone else knew all along ... there are no ties between Al Quida and Iraq.

Hey, I can't wait for the court case about BCCI ... maybe stuff will come out about Bush Snr's corruption and all the dealings the Bush's have had with the Bin Ladens and the Taliban.

Why don't we have a Cult color alert system to warn us of risk of extreme religious attacks from within the country? I suspect a lot more people die each year in this country as a result of obeying the Watchtower then those who died in the Twin Towers.

And a lot more are lost due to the WTBTS shunning policy. Those of us who have left are "effectively dead" in the eyes of our JW friends and relatives.

The Cult Colour system with regards to the WTBTS should be red, and I can't ever see it being lowered.

    Simon,

No matter how many times you and those of your opinion state that there is no connection between AQ and Iraq, it won't make the statement true...the very opposite is already a proven fact.

What IS true is there is no demonstrable link between Iraq and 9-11.

There is demonstrable proof that there were links between Iraq and AQ though. Sorry.

It's a damned shame you weren't available as a screenwriter for that movie because, if you had collaborated on it, it would have become an intelligently memorable film that drove home a stinging lesson to American politicians.

you can tell from this post that not only is this person talented enough to be a hollywood screenwriter, but also wouldve made "wag the dog" an "intelligently memorable film...."? sorry for being off topic here, but that was one of the most ridiculous sentences ive read in a long, long time on this board. if ive been away, and didnt realize that jst2laws was indeed in the screenwriting business, then i apologize. otherwise......what??

as far as the alert system is concerned, i agree that the ups and downs from yellow to orange to purple to black to beige to yellow back up to orange again, seem to desensitize everyone to the alerts entirely. im also not sure though, that there is a better way, save scrapping the system completely.

    Yeru,

No matter how many times you and those of your opinion state that there is no connection between AQ and Iraq, it won't make the statement true...the very opposite is already a proven fact.

No matter how many times you say it is a proven fact it won't make your statement true that there was a link between Saddam and AQ.

Lets deal with facts. Can we trust the Secretary of State Colin Powel?

"I have not seen smoking-gun, concrete evidence." Powel on links between Al Qaeda and former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's regime

    Newsweek January 23, page 23.

Why do we keep defending the indefensible?

Yeru. Having been in that mindset of defending an organisation and beliefs whatever the evidence, it makes it all the more transparent to see how you think and react.

Even when representatives of the administration itself say there is no link you still defend the idea that there is. To do otherwise admits falibility of your beliefs.

    Hello Dubla,

as far as the alert system is concerned, i agree that the ups and downs from yellow to orange to purple to black to beige to yellow back up to orange again, seem to desensitize everyone to the alerts entirely. im also not sure though, that there is a better way, save scrapping the system completely.

It can only raise our level of anxiety or "desensitizes" us, as you say, neither of which is of any value at all. Raising our level of anxiety regarding something we can do nothing about and that is really an unmeasurably small risk when compared to other daily risks in real life, does nothing for us. The only people who need to know about such alerts are the professionals who will step up their level of cautionary action.

I see the whole thing as more than ineffective but counter productive.

On Jan 23 2003 the US was not inside Iraq. Since moving into Iraq there are indeed proven links between Iraq and AQ...not Iraq and 9-11, but Iraq and AQ. When Powell made his comments he DIDN'T say there was NO LINK...he said there was no SMOKING GUN.

The evidence for links between Iraq and terrorists is also overwhelming...more so actually.

Operation Rat Hole....look it up...Iraq had planned an attack on the US Consulate in Frankfurt Germany...a prominent Muslim cleric in London...and on Seattle...in the weeks prior to the war....the plans were hatched in Libya of all places....which might explain why Libya is being so well behaved now...US Spec Ops trooops killed most of the players IN LIBYA...including the Iraqi Intelligence officer who served as the liason. Discovery Channel did an excellent presentation of this...on their program Covert Actions...check it out. Here's just a few of the links showing there is indeed a link between AQ and Iraq....

    Iraq/AQ contacts began in 1990

    Clinton also believed it

AQ's Zarqawi spend a good deal of time in Iraq
