Of course. What proper child of the eighties isn't? At least the ones who have taste....LOL!

It's funny how often they get sampled. Bjork sampled part of "Where Is My Mind". I can't remember which song but it was on her album "Post" and VH1 used the same sample on their Insomniac Music Theater. The Bloodhound Gang had a line in one of their songs..."If man is 5 and the devil is 6 than that must make me 7..This honky's gone to heaven".

I loved the video for "Here Comes Your Man"! Your post insprired me to put on "La La Love You". Thanks!

I have never ever seen a pixies video. EVER. I didn't even know they existed. I guess I couldn't sit and watch crappy music on much music and wait for something good to come up. I'm pretty particular about music.

Shamus, the only time I could find good videos was late at night. MTV used to have this show called "120 Minutes". There was also a shorter show called "Alternative Nation". They both showed a lot of great videos! If they still had a show featuring alternative videos it would probably only air things like Avril Lavigne...LOL! You have to remember the dominate genre of music at the time was hair bands so I actively sought out anything that didn't require and interest in spandex and Aqua Net.

    Az, that's clever. Me likes

I think I was first exposed to the Pixies on the 'Pump up the Volume' soundtrack with their toned down version of "Wave of Mutilation"

There was some great music back then that i was exposed to...

Sonic Youth, old Soundgarden, Social Distortion, Fugazi, Ned's Atomic Dustbin...

Man, I gotta dig out some of these and make me a cool comp CD

I bought the soundtrack to Fight Club just to have Where Is My Mind, and it wasn't on the CD.

I later found it on Kaza.

    Maybies,

I got the single of "If You Want My Body" in a case that looks like a condom. It is totally cool! I also got the whole album, of course.... when I first heard them I was in Love Affair in Vancouver... it was incredible to dance to. I was really drunk at the time... LOL!

    Winston,

Sonic Youth is incredible! They're albums can be from totally bizarre to totally hateful to totally heroin sounding... My all time favorite album is Sister. OMG, that whole album is so kick ass! I worked with another witness at one time, and we were doing (no suprise being 20) janitorial "initial cleanup" type work.

Well, we always hated it when assholes would come in and mess up the room while we were working. Solution?: Crank Skinny Puppy or Sonic Youth up to ten. It worked every time. They would ask, "What the hell is this?" to wit my quip would thusly be: "Skinny Puppy. Do you like it?" Usually they would just leave right away without saying a word.

    Hey, maybies,

You ever listen to the Butt Hole Surfers? They are so cool! It sounds like everyone on this thread listened or is listening to good music.

What else did you all listen to?

Right now I put in Sonic Youth, Washing machine.

For those of you who are pixies fans but never got to see them live, here's your chance! May 1-2,2004 the Pixies, Kraftwerk, and Radiohead will be headlining Cochella in Indio, CA. They are getting back together one last time to do this performance.
