    Vomit alert!

If you can possibly digest one of the worst study articles the Society has ever written, you will see just how devious and manipulative they are with past and present truth.

The two studys articles are from March 1st, 2004 Watchtower.

I'll briefly (if that's possible!) summarize both articles. These articles are due to be studied for the weeks of April 11 and April 18.

It seems to me this is no coincidence that the subject matter to be discussed happens to fall right around the Memorial season, April 4th.

A "Slave" Who Is Both Faifthful and Discreet

"Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics?" - Matthew 24:45

This review will be brief as stated, only the damning paragraphs will be shown.

    paragraph 2

Since 1914, most aspects of Jesus' prophecy have been fulfilled. The "pangs of distress" are upon mankind in full measure. Still, true Christians need not be afraid. Jesus promised that he would sustain them with nourishing spiritual food. Since Jesus is now in heaven, how has he arranged for us here on earth to receive our spiritual food supply?

It really amazes me how spiritual food always has to be prefixed by the word nourishing. Really, would Jesus, if he is supplying us with all thsi spiritual food, give us anything less than nourishing?

    paragraph 3

Jesus himself pointed to the answer to that question. In the course of his great prophecy, he asked: "Who really is the faithful and discreet slave over whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?" Then he said: "Happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so. Truly I tell you, He will appoint him over all his belongings." Yes, there would be a "slave" who had been assigned to provide spiritual food, a "slave" who would be both faithful and discreet. Was that slave a particular individual, a succession of individuals, or something else? Since the faithful slave supplies desperately needed spiritual food, it is in our interests to find the answer.

An interesting question - who really is the faithful and discreet slave? Notice that Jesus used an illustration - he used many illustrations. If the Society take this illustration literally and apply it to themselves, then you have to take every illustration literally - in other words, people who have faith the size of a mustard seed should be moving mountains and all kinds of stuff.

It is obvious that the Governing Body do not in any way match up to what is required for the "faithful slave" to be both faithful and discreet. Just think of their lying doctrines, the child abuse scandals, changing doctrine on rape of women, the UN scandal, and wrongful disfellowshipping.

Who said that this spriitual food would be desperately needed? Revelation was the last book of the Bible to be written - nothing else had been penned by man, inspired by God since 98AD. If we have the complete Bible, that is the only spiritual food we need.

Subheading: An Individual or a Class?

    paragraph 4

"The faithful and discreet slave" cannot be one person. Why not? Because the slave began serving spiritual food back in the first century, and according to Jesus, the slave would still be doing so when the Master arrived in 1914. That would represent some 1,900 years of faithful service for one individual. Not even Methuselah lived that long!

the painful thing about this paragraph that really sticks out, is that Jesus basically said his slave would be disensing spiritual food in 1914. How can they prove this date? Where in the Bible does it say that Jesus mentioned 1914?

    paragrah 6

The only reasonable conclusion, then, is that Jesus was referring to a group of Christians as "the faithful and discreet slave." Can there be such a thing as a composite slave? Yes, seven hundred years before Christ, Jehovah referred to the entire nation of Israel as "my witnesses" and "my servant whom I have chosen." (Isiah 43:10) Every member of the nation of Israel from 1513 BCE, when the Mosaic law was given, down to Pentecost 33CE was part of this servant class....Each Israelite was to be a witness of Jehovah.

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but where does it say in the Bible that each Israelite was a Jehovah's Witness? The Society see fit to twist the scripture at Isaiah 43:10 to make it seem as if they are the witnesses that Jehovah spoke about, including the nation of Israel. But is that really the case?

    Let's have a look...

    Isaiah 43:10

"You are my witnesses," is the utterance of Jehovah, "even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that YOU may know and have faith in me, and that YOU may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no other God formed, and after me there continued to be none."

If you read the scripturein context, you will see that the people referred to are witnesses of what Jehovah has done, not witnesses to other people of what Jehovah did.

This is the same scripture that da Judge used to rename the International Bible Students to Jehovah's Witnesses, to differentiate his group from other breakaway groups around that famous 1918/1919 period.

Skip to the last sentence of paragraph 14, where it talks about anointed ones...

Zealous anointed sisters today manifest the same humble attitude, whether the appointed elders are of the anointed or not.

How many anointed sistes do you know who are not zealous and humble? I really can't see the point of this statement.

New subheading: The "Slave" 19 Centuries Later

    paragraph 16

What about today? When Jesus' presence began in 1914, did he find a group of anointed Christians who were faithfully dispensing food at the proper time? He certainly did. This group could be clearly identified because of the fine fruitage that it was producing. History since then has proved this identification to be correct.

Now there's a statement! What exactly did Jesus find when he came in 1914, albeit invisibly?

International Bible Students - celebrating Christmas and Birthdays

using masonic symbols in their publications

lying about the 1918/1919 time period of inspection

wrongfully getting rid of directors at Bethel who did not agree with Judge Rutherford

using the pyramids to calculate 1914

would you say this was fine fruitage?

And who can clearly identify these faithful anointed ones?

And once again, the society has failed to inform us just who "really is the faithful and discreet slave" from the years 98AD to 1878AD.

History has proved this? OK, all you high school graduates - when did you learn in American History that Jesus came in 1914 and selected Bro Rutherford and co. to be the faithful slave?

paragraph 17 basically describes their zealous activity, publishing lectures in newspapers, using motion picture etc.

    paragraph 18

Yes, when the Master arrived, he found his faithful slave conscientiously feeding the domestics as well as preaching the good news. Greater responsibilities now awaited that slave. Jesus said: "Truly I say to you, He will appoint him over all his belongings." Jesus did this in 1919, after the slave had passed through a period of testing. Why, though, did "the faithful and discreet slave" receive greater responsibilities? Because the Master had received an increase in his belongings. Jesus was given the kingship in 1914.

It all makes so much sense! Jesus chose them in 1914, tested them in 1919 and appointed them over all his belongings.

Of course, we are not told about this period of testing in this study article.

paragraphs 19-20 talk about the expansion work, missionaries, branch offices etc.

    paragrpah 21

All of this shows that the slave has been both "faithful and discreet." Just after he spoke of "faithful and discreet slave," Jesus gave two parables that highlighted those qualities: the parable of the discreet and foolish virgins and the parable of the talents. We are intrigued! What meaning do these parables have for us today? We will take up this question in the following article.

I am intrigued by all this crap they write?

It is obvious that their authority is being challenged by those on the Internet. They feel the need to reinforce the dubs beliefs that they are God's channel as selected by Jesus. Clearly, they are being undermined by the relentless spread of information on the Internet.

Stay tuned for the 2nd installment...

    Emphatic Diaglott:

Who then is the FAITHFUL and prudent Servant, whom his MASTER has placed over his HOUSEHOLD, to give them FOOD in due Season?

Happy that SERVANT, whom his MASTER, on coming, shall find thus employed!

Indeed, I say to you, That he will appoint him over ALL his POSSESSIONS.

    But if that Servant should WICKEDLY say in his HEART, 'My MASTER delays;

and should beat his FELLOW -SERVANTS, and should eat and drink with the INTEMPERATE; the MASTER of that SERVANT will come in a Day when he does not expect him, and at an Hour of which he is not aware,

and will cut him off, and will appoint his PORTION with the HYPOCRITES; there will be the WEEPING and the GNASHING of TEETH.

When you look at it this way, the Servant could be good and turn bad. It is not two servants as the society likes to teach; it's the SAME servant. So they [the governing body] better examine themselves to see if they have become bad.

Truthseeker, when I got my copy I too was disheartened and irritated. Knowing that there are study articles coming up that precede that one, to do with Bible chronology, 1914 and the urgency of the times (2 sets of articles on those) I definitely think you are exactly right on the button when you say

It is obvious that their authority is being challenged by those on the Internet. They feel the need to reinforce the dubs beliefs that they are God's channel as selected by Jesus. Clearly, they are being undermined by the relentless spread of information on the Internet.

The internet is the most pervasive medium we have - it is unprecedented - the world of questioning and discussion has opened up to the ordinary JW in a way that printed matter never could. Little wonder the GB are concerned petrified and need to flex their muscles.

Flowerpetel has an excellent point. There is ONE slave mentioned, he started out good but ended up bad! The WTS use only the first half of this text! This should not surprise anyone ...they do this all the time to prove their point! This is not unlike using the scripture where Peter says," Where are we to go, for you have the sayings of everlasting life?" and applying that to the WTS when Peter was actually talking to JESUS!

They claim apostolic ascension but offer ZERO proof...except their own statements from past WatchTowers. They keep on insisting 1914 as a prime year and this was disproved by their own people in 1979!

Judge Rumpot took control of the International Bible Students assets and kicked the rightful board of directors out on their rears and called it Gods Time of Test! Then over the next 15 years or so molded them into his own little Kingdom on Earth! Then he changed their name and made a clean break from Christianity and giving them a new God to worship... Jehovah and a new savior...the WTS! Maverick

What's your take on it? Where did the Society get the two class idea from?

...um.....Not a lot of finger-pullin' goin' on at Bethel, do ya think?

Seriously, tho....according to the Young's Literal Translation at Bible Gateway, Matthew 24: 45-51 translates as:

    Matthew 24
45 `Who, then, is the servant, faithful and wise, whom his lord did set over his household, to give them the nourishment in season?
    46 Happy that servant, whom his lord, having come, shall find doing so;
47 verily I say to you, that over all his substance he will set him.
48 `And, if that evil servant may say in his heart, My Lord doth delay to come,
49 and may begin to beat the fellow-servants, and to eat and to drink with the drunken,
50 the lord of that servant will arrive in a day when he doth not expect, and in an hour of which he doth not know,
51 and will cut him off, and his portion with the hypocrites will appoint; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth

While verse 45 asks the question as to who the slave is, verse 46 presents a superlative and future perfect tense in the words "Lord, having come, shall find". Then in verses 48 and 49, the passages, "if that evil slave may say" and "may begin to beat" also show that the thought is superlative and future perfect, indicating that the whole concept is an "either or" case involving one individual.

As an aside.....I believe the WTS, "Mother/Bride - wacko/slave has already been discovered as stated in verses 48 thru 51...."Her" 'slip-ups' are showing....

"Who really is the faithful and discreet slave over whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?" Then he said: "Happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.

This is a very interesting scripture that they use. Notice that Jesus uses the word "if"? Even if you give the Borg the (extreme) benefit of the doubt and agree that the GB is the F&DS Class, that still doesn't mean squat. Jesus said "Happy is that slave IF his master on arriving finds him doing so..

The Governing Body members seem to have the "once a GB, always saved" mentality when clearly that's not the case. Jesus gave absolutely NO assurance that this slave would be faithful upon his return and the Governing Body has proven time and time again that they have NOT been "faithful" over "all the Master's belongings"----they've behaved like a bunch of self-centered arrogant fools.

One day, these jokers will be cast into the outer darkness.....where they can weep and nash their teeth till they're a bunch of toothless crones.

In response to Englishman, the "parallel" passage to Matthew 24 is found in Luke 12.

Quoting from the NWT and setting the context, Jesus is asked to settle a dispute about inheritance

13 Then a certain one of the crowd said to him: ?Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.?

20 But God said to him, ?Unreasonable one, this night they are demanding your soul from you. Who, then, is to have the things you stored up?? 21 So it goes with the man that lays up treasure for himself but is not rich toward God.

Jesus then elaborates on this parable and summing up, refers to the disciples as a "little flock":

Luke 12:22 Then he said to his disciples: ........32 ?Have no fear, little flock, because YOUR Father has approved of giving YOU the kingdom.

And Jesus tells them - the little flock - what they should do

33 Sell the things belonging to YOU and give gifts of mercy [make donations to the poor]. Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, a never-failing treasure in the heavens, where a thief does not get near nor moth consumes. 34 For where YOUR treasure is, there YOUR hearts will be also.

He warns the disciples to keep ready - and why does Jesus warn them (the "little flock") to keep ready?

    Jesus tells us the reason

40 "it is because at an hour that YOU ["little flock"] do not think likely the Son of man is coming.?

At this point Peter asks Jesus whether this is relevant only to them (the "little flock") or to "all".

41 Then Peter said: ?Lord, are you saying this illustration [parable] to us or also to all??

Jesus precedes the answer with further illustration

42 And the Lord said: ?Who really is the faithful steward, the discreet one, whom his master will appoint over his body of attendants to keep giving them their measure of food supplies at the proper time? 43 Happy is that slave, if his master on arriving finds him doing so! 44 I tell YOU truthfully, He will appoint him over all his belongings.

45 But if ever that slave should say in his heart, ?My master delays coming,? and should start to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, 46 the master of that slave will come on a day that he is not expecting [him] and in an hour that he does not know, and he will punish him with the greatest severity and assign him a part with the unfaithful ones.

47 Then that slave that understood the will of his master but did not get ready or do in line with his will will be beaten with many strokes. 48 But the one that did not understand and so did things deserving of strokes will be beaten with few. Indeed, everyone to whom much was given, much will be demanded of him; and the one whom people put in charge of much, they will demand more than usual of him.

This raises a few questions about the organisational views of the "little flock", the identity of the "faithful and discreet slave" and the "144,000".

And who is represented by the slave "that did not understand"?

Watchtower 1 October 1981 ?Who Really Is the Faithful Steward, the Discreet One??

16 How, though, can we confirm that this has been the proper time for the remnant of the ?steward? class to be appointed over the enlarged ?belongings,? or interests, of the Master?

If the "steward class" numbers 144,000 and those Jehovah's Witnesses who considered themselves to be of the anointed numbered (Watchtower 15 August 1996 Questions From Readers ) 52,465 in 1935, would "remnant" be an accurate description of 36.4% of the total number who will reign as kings and priests with Christ?

And out of interest, does anyone know how many of these partakers happened to be found in the USA?

    Thanks

40 "it is because at an hour that YOU ["little flock"] do not think likely the Son of man is coming.?

And yet those who consider themselves to be members of the "little flock" seem to have a penchant for making predictions.....
