This is the second study article:
"The Faithful Slave Passes the Test!"
"It is the appointed time for the judgement to start with the house of God." - 1 Peter 4:17
How appropriate the above scripture. As you all know, Bethel is the house of God. So, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society feel they are ready to be judged by Jehovah God. And about time too.
paragraph 1
At Pentecost 33CE Jesus appointed a "slave" to provide food at the proper time for his "domestics." In 1914, Jesus was enthroned as King, and soon it was time to inspect that "slave." For the most part, he found that the "slave" had proved itself "faithful and discreet." Hence, he appointed it "over all his belongings." However, there was also an evil slave, who was neither faithful nor discreet.
What it must be to know the mind of Jesus!
For an event so powerful, for the Son of God to come down, inspect his slave and appoint it over all his belongings - why, this must have been an earth shattering event! Newspapers, radio and television must have had their schedules full of this incredible news.
We know of course it's all in their heads. Let's see who they identify as the evil slave.
Subheading: "That Evil Slave"
paragraph 2
Jesus spoke of the evil slave immediately after discussing "the faithful and discreet slave." He said: "If ever that evil slave should say in his heart, 'My master is delaying,' and should start to beat his fellow slaves and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards, the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour he does not know, and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites. There is where the weeping and gnashing of his teeth will be." The expression "that evil slave" draws our attention to Jesus' preceding words about the faithful and discreet slave. Yes, the "evil slave" came from the ranks of the faithful slave. How?
Well, they did get one thing right - the evil slave class has truly manifested itself in Brooklyn. Just think of all the recent lawsuits regarding peodophile elders and the coverups.
paragrpah 3
Before 1914, many members of the faithful slave class had high hopes of meeting with the Bridegroom in heaven that year, but their hopes were not fulfilled. As a result of this and other developments, many were disappointed and a few became embittered. Some of these turned to beating their former brothers verbally and consorting with "confirmed drunkards," religious groups of Christendom.
Yes, who was it that disappoined these eager Bible Students? Non other than Joseph Rutherford, who verbally beat his brothers and ousted some of them from Bethel. Of course, we are not told about the "other developments."
When you believed with all your heart that you would meet the Bridegroom in heaven, and then you find out your hope was based on a lie, who wouldn't be embittered?
paragraph 4
These former Christains came to be identified as the "evil slave," and Jesus punished them with "the greatest severity." How? He rejected them, and they lost out on their heavenly hope. They were not, however, immediately destroyed. They first had to endure a period of weeping and gnashing of teeth in "the darkness outside" the Christian congregation. Since those early days, a few other anointed individuals have shown a similar bad spirit, identifying themselves with the "evil slave." Some of the "other sheep" have imitated their unfaithfulness. All such enemies of Christ end up in the same spiritual "darkness outside."
Let me ask all of you here who considered themselves of the anointed class. Has Jesus punished you with the greatest severity?
Honestly, this paragrpah is the worst I have ever read, and slanderous. In other words, anyone that left during those early days, and allied themselves with other groups, such as the Dawn Bible Students, are considered the evil slave class.
Aren't y'all glad that you have not been immediately destroyed?
When I read Amazing's 'amazing' story, I could see how twisted the elders were that he dealt with.
I wonder who these other anointed individuals are that identify themselves with the evil slave class? (Raymond Franz)
I will discuss the fifth paragraph, and then call it a day. The rest is basically more 1919 rhetoric.
paragraph 5
Nonetheless, the faithful and discreet slave went through the same tests as "that evil slave." Rather than becoming embittered, however, they were readjusted. Their love for Jehovahand their brothers were strengthend. As a result, they have been a pillar and support of the truth during these tumultuous last days.
Wow - a pillar and support of truth.
It's obvious to me that the guys in the writing department are taking some serious stuff to be writing this.
Funnily enough, this magazine's articles, follow straight from the Feb 15 articles on apostates.
I can't take this drivel anymore, gotta go wash that nasty taste in my mouth out.
