Who here was an active witness, and decided to snoop around on a site like this, and left because of the information they found out on the net?
Who here left the "truth" because.....

Hello freedom96,
I just wanted to tell you that im not a jw and i never will be one, but you mention the word truth. What is the truth? 95% of everybody left the JW and now what?
You turn away from the ear of GOD and you turn to evolution? or the works of science? or nothing? all because you left the Jw does it mean you should give up your faith in GOD? It's better for the world to believe to not believe. The truth is the world & it's wonderful foundation, remember the words that i have laid upon you !

I didnt leave because of the information found on the net but it certainly kept me from going back. I probably would have gone back had I not found the real 'truth'.

U2K-
If you will be kind enough to re-read my original question, you would realize that the term "truth" has quotation marks around it. I think most here would realize that this is meant in a sarcastic tone, as those who actually were witnesses know that one of the buzz words that the JW's used so much was just that "The Truth."
It is much easier to say "the truth" than explaining, "Oh that religion that we used to belong to that we all thought was it, but then it actually wasn't."
For the record, I have a deep belief in God, and now I know Him much more than I did when I was a witness. So, when one leaves the WTS, that is just that. They are leaving a man made, flawed religion. It has nothing to do with leaving God.

U2K, damn, you're sneaky! I never would have recognized you if you hadn't sounded exactly like your previous names.
Sorry, Freedom, I left for other reasons entirely.

Troll alert!!! U2k = spammer. Ignore him.
It was ray franz' first book that did it for me. After that, i did a lot of research on the net, amassed piles of paper documentation.

When I heard rumors of child abuse cases and surfed the net and found Silent Lambs I was shocked and livid!!!!! DA'ed myself faster than you can swat a mosquito. Told them I refuse to sully MY name by being associated with an org that tolerates, aids and abets child molestation. About a week later I found out about the UN fiasco on the net and have been learning new things almost weekly. No one has come to my house or bothered me as I have been collecting "ammo"(info) and fully intend to use it and they know it. I staple fact sheets that I put together to mags or booklets or whatever WTBTS stuff I find anywhere. They stopped leaving tracts in the waiting room for the unit I work in at my hosp. Guess they found all of those tracts defaced with fact sheets.

Hello freedom. I would like to say I did my research and left because of some shocking discovering, but alas, my reasons were more base than that. Actually, I did have some lingering doubts for a long time, and did conduct a little bit of research over the net, but that's not the reason I left.
I left primarily because I noticed this vibe that JWs think they are so much better than everybody else. As an unbaptized regular, I eventually fell for a girl who is both an elder's daughter and a regular pioneer. I knew I could never ask her out, because I would never be good enough for her in the eyes of the JWs. That brings me to another point. I was also bothered by their ranking system. They have unbaptized regulars, who have significantly fewer privelages than official JWs. Even among baptized JWs, they have a caste system. Pioneers are announced every week, and applauded by the congregation. Only the annoited 144,000 may partake of the
communionconfusion. Stuff of that nature turned me off and I eventually made my escape.
