Growing up in the 70's I remember the dolls and posters, and of course the Knights in Satan Service thing. But then I saw a movie "Detriot Rock City" which I found to be a great flick and I bought the soundtrack. Loved "Shout it out loud" great tune!

"Detroit Rock City" is an amusing film.
I saw KISS in concert at The Gorge Amphitheater in Washington state a few years ago.
The show was GREAT!
They had this HUGE bank of lights that would spell out KISS, and when that thing lit up, you could feel the heat pouring off of it from more than 100 feet away - it must have caused all the other lights in the state to go dim when it was turned on.
I'll admit that I do not think their songs are the apex of songwriting, and their vocal talents I doubt would get them through Star Search; but they DO know how to ROCK, and Gene Simmons is a GENIUS marketeer, and a man who is completely consistent in who he is.
By the way, Gene and I went to the same Junior High School; he was a year ahead of me. True fact!

I also heard he is quite the breeder of women.

SevenofNine: I love the New York Dolls.
Songs like: Trash, Personality Crisis, and so many more.
Great albums....and I think Sylvain Sylvain is still kickin' it!

A few years ago, I heard all this hoopla about the return of KISS and their tour, and at the last moment I decided to go. More because of their legendary status in the music industry. I wanted to see what it was all about.
I enjoy music, I love concerts, and when I go to one, I want to be entertained. Don't just stand their and do your songs, lets see lights, lasers, etc. Make it an experience.
An experience it was. The show was awesome. Guitars that shot rockets, fire, lasers, lights, they had it all. Most of their music still does not do much for me, but the visual show was out of this world. If I have the chance to go again, I certainly will.

Here's THE GORGE in GEORGE, WASHINGTON. (Yes, the name of the town is George, and it is in Washington State.)
The stage is in the center of the picture, and those are 25 -30 foot (my guess) tall speaker stacks on either side of the stage. The Columbia River flows through the gorge it has cut over millions of years through the basalt-encrusted high desert of central washington state. On summer nights the skies are totally clear, and it isn't unusual for a meteor to add a cosmic special effect to the show.

Hey Rayzorblade. This is a funny thread, as a matter of fact, I just saw Paul Stanley on Saturday the 18th and Gene Simmons on Friday the 17th (Gene was out of costume by the way) at the NAMM (musician's expo) in Anaheim California.
My favorite song is "Great Expectations." That is a very, very, sexy song
p.s. here is picture of Paul Stanley from Saturday, I dont have Gene's picture back yet

Speaking of the New York Dolls, did anyone ever seen Johnny Thunders?! We'd go to see him every chance we got at any dive he played (since there was always a 50/50% chance he'd be too messed up to perform) Sad day when he died but not unexpected.

They sure look hardcore, but man, they're music is lame.
Sorry, Ray. I would rather have my genitals eaten by crabs than have to go to they're concert.
Of course, if I was still in the lie, I would listen to it every time I went out in service. Just like AC/DC. Antichrist, devilschild. What liars they were. Knights in Satans' Service.... LOL! You could say the same about any band like REM.
